My brother and I once had a bag of graham cracker crumbs explode on us. He was crushing whole graham crackers into crumbs for a cheesecake crust, and I was helping him with a bag full of crumbs that hadn't yet been crushed finely enough. We were both in somewhat of a playful mood at the time, and I came up with the bright idea of smashing up the crumbs by bopping my brother over the head with them.

Unfortunately, I overestimated the durability of the ziplock bag, and the second time I hit him, the bag popped. Needless to say, the mess was significant.

I once saw a bat in a park... which is atypical for New York City... I also once road my bicycle around a reservoir.

A couple of years ago, I caught several glimpses of bats outside my house in the evenings. On my urging, my family bought and set up a bat house, though to my knowledge it has yet to acquire any occupants.

I've also held a membership with Bat Conservation International for two years now.

(In case it's not obvious already, I'm crazy about bats.

I'll give y'all an Alex Anecdote.

Long time, few years ago, back when I was a wee lad, I was at the districts middle school (my momma worked there at the time), and they had bats in their gym. I mean like 4 families, like 25 bats. They had aleady caught like 7 of them. Well they were swoopin' around, bein' bats, and one dove at me. I'm talkin' like that dive that Petrie did to pop that bubble Cera was in. It hit me in my chest, and kept trying to fly forward. End of story, I was caressed by a bat for about 3 seconds. Was kinda cool.

I'm guessing it was a recently fledged bat that was still getting the hang of flying and navigating in the air (kinda like a chiropteran version of Petrie, actually

). Those are the bats that most often fly into people's houses and cause panic.
