The clouds became thinner and thinner as they moved on. At one point, it seemed like they were literally walking on the thin air. Somehow, the magical clouds supported their weight. Looking around, Lucien could see that this realm was nothing but blue sky, a rocky ground, and a light which looked like a sun, but not nearly bright enough to cause any damage to their eyes by looking at it. In fact, as the jumped from cloud to cloud, they could actually touch it.
That's right; they could touch the light source. Annette had heard of them before. She reached out her hand, and, touched it.
"It's okay, you guys! Really! It's not hot at all! This is a coldlight orb! It takes a lot of energy to create, but once made it generates a ton of light, and can last for thousands of years before burning out!"
The girl was brave, Lucien had to give her that. Smart, too. Maybe he ought to rethink his assessment of the human race.
