Adykon and the wall guards fought a desperate defense against the second enemy army. So far, they had kept the foes back, and had even been able to wreck one of the siege towers. But now, with several more siege towers and scaling ladders incoming, they were hard-pressed to hold them off.
"Where's Toby?" Adykon thought to himself, wondering what was so important about that bird that the little dragon would just abandon the fight for it.
Toby, for his part, did has Tahlia instructed, and soon the cart was moving. From this point, it would be up to the earth phoenix to get anything done.
Rhiga and Marcus were still in their house, trying to stay alive on the first day after they were married, while Vespion was wounded but hanging in there. Lucien and Margas were in the middle of the fight. They fought hard, but it was becoming harder and harder to keep so much as one step ahead of the enemy in combat.
"Blast it! Why do these things have to be so TOUGH?!" Lucien cursed mentally. His shiny armor was battered and dented, and blood belonging to himself and the enemy stained both his helmet and his gauntlets. Even with the fanciest armor and best equipment available, the young noble was in trouble.
Another noble was also in trouble... financial trouble. Yes, even during the battle, Tallon worried about his costs and income. He was still fantastically rich, even with the loss of some income from disrupted commerce and damage to his businesses in the city. For now, he brooded on these thoughts while hiding underneath his palace in a magically-shielded safe room.
As for those with real causes to worry about...
"Ahhgh! Vespion!" I need some healing here!
"Bzzzzumm" The sound of a spell of 'cure wounds' went off, healing the nasty gash on Adykon's arm.
"*Gasp* There you go, Adykon, but you've gotta make it last. That was the very last bit of healing magic I've got."
"Can you still fight?"
"Yeah, but I'm running out of combat magic too. I've used up the last of the mana potions we had on this side of the wall, and I don't think there are any more coming soon."
If something was going to change the tide for them on this wall, it had better happen soon.
