Vespion cleared his throat and announced a plan to his to the group "I don't know where she is, and I don't know anyone who does, but I do know of some people who can find out for us."
"Would this be a certain group of mages? Clerics? I'm sure that if we have a scrying spell that is strong enough-" Adykon began to outline an idea for a high-powered scrying spell which could reveal a location by showing the spellcaster a vision of the person, place, or thing in question, but Vespion cut him off.
"No. Not a scrying spell. It is a standard precaution for a mage to cast anti-scrying wards on his domicile. Even if we do have enough power to get through Aerta's wards, we still might not be able to pinpoint an exact location, although we will get to see inside her palace. We just wouldn't know where it is. To that end, I suggest we enlist the services of some psionics."
"A psionic? Wait, are you talking about those mentalists? I don't trust them." Rhiga knew that the psionics were a group of mages with the ability to read minds, as well as lift things with sheer mental magic. Being a thief back in Hekaga, Rhiga had long dreaded being captured and having her mind read, which would reveal all of her crimes.
"Many Dracons don't trust them either, because they can not only read minds, they have the power to manipulate minds as well. Furthermore, no one who is a psionic is born with that power, at least, no dracon is. Every last one of them learns it by their own efforts. In any case, their guild is encased in solid black granite, which keeps them from reading minds that are outside their guild walls. We should be cautious when we go there, and spend as little time in the company of the psionics as we can. We only need them to scan the astral plane and detect Aerta's mind, make contact with her, and get her to tell us where to go to find her." Vespion's plan was sound, but Adykon wanted to know something...
"How do we know she will even be projecting her soul onto the astral plane? She can't be doing it all of the time."
"That is correct. Mages such as her, however, like to scan the planes at least once a day. All we need is for her to scan them once for a second, and we should be able to make contact."
"How do you know what she is like?" Adykon knew that Vespion never saw Aerta, and that the cleric was making a generalization about her.
"I don't know what she is like, Adykon. At best, my analysis is an educated guess. If you have a better idea, I'll listen."
"I... do not. Alright. Let's try the psionic thing. I know where that guild is. Are we all ready?"
