The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Minna and Ilsa returned to the castle to get supplies, while Margas headed to the armory to repair his armor.
- I assume you're going with the party?' Marcus said to his wife.
-we'll take care of the egg' His father said  to them, as he looked fondly at the egg which was carefully nestled in the middle of the table . "How long do you expect it to take?"

"I don't know how long it will take, but I assure you, I WILL be back to see my egg hatch" Rhiga was insistent on seeing this egg, the fourth she ever laid, hatch a new child into the world. The other three she laid were all given up to temples, as she was in no position to raise a child while on the run.

Now that the rogue had settled down with Marcus, this was no longer a problem. Rhiga only wished that Vaeri could be there to see the egg.

Meanwhile...

"Well, there is the matter of normal food, Kayla. Do you need normal food in addition to blood, or do you not need to eat normal food at all? I can make regular food on the journey, but making blood... is much harder."

"Normal food would be nice" Kayla begun, but paused when she heard Vespion talk about making blood as she shook her head "You don't have to do that, especially if you don't want to, I don't want you to actually do anything you don't want to do"

Personally, she just wanted to find her father and along the way, kill any sort of animal she could find if she were to need blood instead of someone having to make it, especially if they didn't want to in the end.  However, she did ask Vespion about one thing "Adykon....hates me because of what I am....doesn't he? I can't blame him really...vampires have made a bad name for themselves killing anyone and anything for blood....being so....uncultured about it...."

"Alright. I'll make you normal food along with everyone else. If you need more blood, I'll see what I can do when that time comes. How often do you need to drink blood, anyway?"

Vespion thought to himself. Kayla, Like Asthia and Arcantas, was a kind of vampire that could go out in the daylight with impunity. She didn't appear to be the "classic" kind of undead vampire, nor did she seem to have the ability to turn into a bat, or be repelled by garlic. As the cleric understood it, it was more accurate to called her a human afflicted with the curse of vampirism rather than a 'true' vampire.

"It's not too often, but I wont let that get in the way of anything" Kayla replied back to Vespion with a little bit of a smile.

She however, was still upset inside as well, yet, doing what she could to keep a rather happy face about it all "I guess that if the time comes, just find a cow or some sort of animal and kill it....you know, cook it up and maybe save the blood for me" she suggested with a little shrug as well.

Minna paused in collecting supplies when she saw Lucien pass by the enterence to the dining room ' How long do you think our journey will take? that's a few hundred miles. so on foot it will take weeks to cover that distance.. but i suppose it is for the best.. if we can help Aerta hold off Dememoras' forces..'
- Marcus stuffed a few supplies into a knapsack, he would get more more at Minna's palace before they would head off..

Vespion looked at Kayla, thinking of the best way to put his words. "I will do my best to accommodate you. Just don't let the others see you drinking blood, alright? They've been through much, and seeing another vampire, particularly a vampire among them, might not be very helpful."

Meanwhile...

"I don't know, Minna. We've both traveled great distances before, and this promises to be no different." Lucien didn't relish the thought of such a long walk in such heavy armor. "At least you don't have to walk in heavy clothing, as I do."

"Yeah, I know" Kayla replied back with a little bit of a sigh as well "I'd rather not let them see me drinking blood anyway, more from what you were saying than anything else"

She looked at her feet for a moment before looking to her hands with a small sigh again, yet, she gave Vespion a little bit of a smile as well "By the way, um....thanks...for not killing me or anything like that"

"Well I don't relish going out in the desert, the amount of clothing I wear has its drawbacks as well. You wear heavy armor that really is too much clothing where we are headed, I'm the opposite, of course.  We need to bring enough food and drink to last until we get there.. Do you need help with your armor?" Minna asked " I could tighten it for you if you wish."

"I won't kill you. If anything, you have little to fear from that. Being a vampire means that you would probably just rise up as a full vampire, undead and awful. If you were to be destroyed then, you might not return, but as you are, you can be saved, Kayla." Vespion would try his best to cure her in the Great Temple, but he would have to do so quietly; it was not good to keep secrets from the rest of the party, but it had to be done if order was to be maintained.

Meanwhile...

"Sunburn is the least of our problems, my love. You know that it takes a ton of sunlight for a dracon's skin to burn. Vespion can make food and water for us, but it won't hurt to get more, just in case. And my armor is fine, thanks." Lucien had been told that early on, spells had been cast to create housing and all sorts of bizaare food for the party. Such spells were usually a waste of magic, and in any case, none of them would be used now.

"Yeah, I know what you mean....well, kinda anyway" Kayla spoke up again, taking a quick look around "But I want to ask one thing, are you going to at least try and cure me before we leave? I mean, that would be much appreciated"

Of course, Kayla didn't know if Vespion could actually cure her, or if it had something to do with her father, but for her, it was all through trial and error at the very least anyway and getting cured by Vespion first was the best desicion and then of course, things would have to go from there, play it piece by piece.

" Just making sure is all. Do you have any preference as to what food we bring along or does it not matter? ' Minna frowned as she held up two different kinds of fruit, one in each claw.  She lifted  one closer to her than the other, weighing whether to take one or the other, Finally, she decided to bring both along..

"I don't know. Making food really is a female sort of thing. I'm sure you'll pick what's best. You're good with that, at least." Lucien didn't expect his wife to do cooking for him in the palace, but still thought of her as being expected to do that in camp on an adventure.

Meanwhile...

"Curing you would take more magic that I currently have, Kayla. It requires supplies, assistance, and a ritual I am only partially familiar with. I know that the temple can cure you, though. We don't have time for it now, I'm afraid." Vespion would oversee her curing when they returned.

You expect me to cook, because you don't know how to, is that right, my dear?' Minna's casual air hid her distaste at her husbands remarks. she hoped this was going to be something she would have to become familiar with, while sexism was very much part of the Dracon culture, in Minna's experience it had been more subtle than overt.

"Oh okay" Kayla of course, didn't quiet expect that as an answer herself, but yet, just shrugged in the end "Well, I suppose it doesn't matter, I'll just have to be more careful is all"

Granted, now, she wasn't sure on what to do, especially since the whole curing ordeal would happen when they were to return, but yet, she didn't mind either, as long as it was going to happen in the end.

"Well, yes. That is true, Minna. I hardly know how to cook. I imagine that you do." That was all Lucien had to say in reply, as he had accepted that females were the ones who cooked the food as the norm.

Meanwhile...

"Is there anything else you need to do, Kayla? This is the last chance to get things from Minbenthac until we return from our journey, so if you need to buy anything, now is the time." Vespion thought about the situation, and added "Remember, the king is covering our expenses, so if there's anything you need to buy but couldn't afford..."

"Well, I suppose if we are going to be fighting and what have you, I would need a weapon, a knife or something would do for me" Kayla replied back to Vespion "You have any idea on where I could buy one of those?"

Kayla hadn't had training with a sword, but she could fight using a knife, or something small like that, even if it were a short sword or a dagger, granted, she hadn't fought anything too powerful, like a dragon or anything, but then again, the thought hadn't crossed her mind as of yet.

"We can get one in the armory, easily. Adykon's there right now. I wonder if he likes his new armor." Vespion had understated it. Adykon didn't just like the armor; he loved it. The warrior's eyes looked on the table to find a shit of polished armor, glowing golden in the light. The massive metallic suit had the image of a red dragon head on its front and back, a helmet which fit snugly over his head, leg pieces which also covered the top of his feet, and gauntlets which were a perfect match for his clawed hands.

"I-I... gods. I never saw anything quite like it. And you say it is enchanted too?"

Kluthu laughed at that. "Is it enchanted? Does our land have hot summer days? Yes, by the gods, it is enchanted! I'll tell you about some of the special features this masterpiece has..."

"Okay, can you um, take me there? Cause I don't really know where it is, and if Adykon's there....well...." Kayla then went quiet a little bit as well, already thinking on what could happen, but unlikely right now.

She wasn't too sure on if she actually wanted a short sword or just a knife or a dagger, she just wanted to at least, have a look at the very least to see what they had available.

Eriol went to the Palace's Armory, he got quite some spare arrows of great quality thanks to the talents of the Minbenthac's best blacksmith. He was also able to get from him a big sized shield, but it was surprisingly light. - "I am sure doing my best to keep this shield and get it back to my lands." - Eriol said with a sly smile as he tested some movements, since the shield is big enough to use it not only for protection but even also as a short-range weapon to attack or distract enemies.

After a little while, he finished testing some new armor pieces, he is not used to heavy metal armors, but the enemies that will come made him think otherwise. He is strong enough to carry a heavy metal armor, but he still got the pieces to mainly protect the vital areas of his body, also for his forearms and for his legs some shin pads-like metal armor that covers from his knees to his ankles. The Panther was happy to see that his mobility is not impaired and he is willing to do all he can to help make Dememoras to pay for all what he has done.
