The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

"So...what now?" Anna asked as she looked around for any sharpteeth.

------------------

"I do not like this, oh no no no," Ducky said as she peered at the group from behind Cera's napeshield.

"I agree, Ducky.  Something's not right here," Cera agreed.

"What we do.  What can we do?" Petrie asked, obviously fearful, drawing his wings up close to himself.

Red Claw sighed in frustration as the two fast biters bickered about this.

Really guys...? Is this what I have to deal with?

"I don't care what you do! Just make sure the flyer is lured in! Is that really hard to follow?!" Red Claw growled to them. He shook his head and walked away from them to get some peace away from most of the fast biters.

However, one of them went up to him and stated boldly, "Sir, we looked around for the where abouts of this flyer, there are many out there now, which one do we get?"

Red Claw really had enough of the constant confusion and questioning.

"Distract the ones that are coming this way, and make sure no one is around a certain flyer, a cream and brown colored flyer...and don't try to rip me off of one, I remember scent now more than ever."

The fast biter didn't respond for a moment, but then sighed and tipped her head respectfully.

"Of course Red Claw, we would never disappoint you."

Red Claw, not very convinced, snorted as the fast biter left and he stayed within himself for a moment.
------------
Mr. Three Horn still paused where he stood, he turned around to the others looking at him with questioning facial expressions.

"Stand firm everyone. We can't let those sharp teeth to go through us."

He was ready to kick some sharptooth tail as he turned the other way and faced that direction.
----------
Amy and Pterano were done clearing out the nest and were going to settle in for the night.

"It was...nice of you to come out with me. It's been awhile since I had company."

Amy mumbled, "I guess that makes the two of us."

Pterano almost didn't hear Amy, but he ended up responding, "What do you mean by that?"

Amy didn't want to talk about her social insecurities, so she just replied, "Nothing...and thank you for wanting to help me with flying." She turned to him and smiled.

"Not at all dear...it's an honor to teach your fellow flyer." The orange and brown flyer had his chest puffed out, feeling pride overthrow him. However, Amy made no other response and curled herself into a ball to sleep.

"Good night m'lady." Pterano turned the other way to sleep while Amy sighed and kept to herself.

I really have this bad feeling...I think I made a mistake.

So when Amy was sure Pterano was fast asleep, she emereged from her sleeping quarters and quietly as she could, walk upon the stones of the cliff back, to the Great Valley.

Little did she know however, that there was going to be a battle and bloodshed between the Great Valley dinosaurs and fast biters. And she was one of the main targets of the battle.

As the minutes passed by and the group traveled further, Ruby was getting more and more nervous, fearing what might soon happen if nothing was done to prevent it. "Chronicler, I think now might be a good time to tell everyone about your plan," said Ruby.

Chronicler was sure about it, but he quickly realized that if he wanted the idea of negotiating to work, it was now or never. He walked up to Mr. Threehorn and asked, "Excuse me, Mr.Threehorn? May I offer a more preferable alternative to an all-out fight?"

Despite everything he'd heard since he'd walked out of his cave at the base of the valley wall, and despite all the murmurs of danger, death and sharpteeth Cyrix had the utmost calm expression on his face, as if all this information was irrelevant and had no use to him. He simply continued to breath in and out, almost unmoving if not for the rise and fall of his abdomen as he drew in air. Even his eyes seemed to show a content, almost peaceful glint to them.

Grandma Longneck's face however showed worry, not for herself, or any of the other valley elders or newcomers here, but for the children. She knew from past experience that they would either listen and stay at their nests, or more likely follow after the elders, and try to stay hidden. Even as she thought this, she quickly banished it from her mind as worrying about the young ones, would serve no real purpose should a fight with the sharpteeth begin.

~~~
Longtail was staring at the sky, almost wishing the sky puffies would go away... but he, like his friends could smell a storm coming, and he knew immediately that would put all the flyers at a disadvantage... including himself. But his well being wasn't what had the young flyer worried... it was uncertainty that something was going to happen, wether good or bad Longtail wasn't sure, but he continued to look to the sky nonetheless hoping the sky puffies would disappear.
Rick looked to Zaine and asked honestly from his heart, "I don't want to sound like a coward.... but I'm not sure this will end well for any of us... how can you have so much courage in such a bad situation like this?"
Rob continued to look around for sharpteeth, but he couldn't find any. He wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. "I don't like the looks of this at all. We should have seen some sharpteeth by now. Where the hell are they?" At the same time, he wasn't sure he wanted to know the answer to that question.
Zaine looked over at Rick. "Well after I lost my herd, I was alone for a while. I kind of learned to keep myself alive through it all, and then I found the Great Valley. I guess I got my courage from that journey."
Littlefoot could relate to what Zaine was talking about. He knew all too well what it meant to be on his own. "I know what you mean, Zaine," he added. "When my mother died, I had to go out on my own to find the Great Valley too. Of course, I met up with Cera, Ducky, Petrie and Spike along the way, so I guess I had it easier than you."
"That's true," Zaine agreed. "It doesn't really matter now though. I have to keep it together for my sake and for Rob's sake. Panicking isn't going to help."
John felt a tinge of worry come over him,a fear that the battle may end in bloodshed, and that Pangaea wouldn't be rescued and Amy would be killed, but John wasn't about to let any of that happen, he would stand his ground.
Bron,however didn't feel any such thoughts, knowing that it would be a distraction if the sharpteeth attacked.
"We stay together like we always do." Petrie said to the others as he looked at them, feeling a little better knowing his friends were there with him, though they were out in the scary mysterious beyond yet again.
"Oh, yes, if we stick together we can do anything, we can, we can." Ducky said nodding emphatically.   "Remember we did to the sharptooth and got to the great valley.
"Best to keep alert, no telling what may happen or when." She said looking around her a bit.
Mr. Three Horn loomed down at the white fast runner and raised a brow.
"A perferable...alternative? Well, you are going to have to explain what it is before I say anything about it."
In the back of Mr. Three Horn's mind, he thought it would be odd to try to offer any other plan then what was already done, but since the sharp teeth were not in view, he decided it might be worth a shot.
----------
Tria was at home pondering over what was happening. Her mate and daughters did not seem to be anywhere in sight, funny thing was, no one else was around either.
Hmm...I guess I should try to find them.
Tria got up from her mud pool and looked in other corners to find them.
-------------
Amy was finally off the cliff and returning, and she traveled from her place to the Great Valley. However, she sensed something amiss with the atmosphere and everything around her.
Before she came to the Great Valley entrance, she thought she heard something faraway, a russle and foot steps coming towards her direction. She quickly and silently as she could, lowered herself in some bushes and hid until she felt it was safe.
"So...when do you think we will get some yummy leaf eaters?" A fast biter growled.
Another snapped back, obviously annoyed by the other companion.
"You dummy, don't you remember? We can get a taste of those Great Valley members once Red Claw and his cronies get a flyer."
"Why would he want a flyer? Wouldn't he want a long neck or something like that?"
"Boy you're stupid! He wants one of the Great Valley members because it BLINDED him! Don't you remember your Uncle Verdie getting blinded by one of those peckers?"
The other fast biter pondered and seemingly after awhile said, "Oh yeahh...but what if he doesn't get it?"
"Then we don't get anything to eat! Remember that weird bright red creature?! He's going to be used as bait to lure those Great Valley dinosaurs in and then once he gets his flyer, we have our fills, then we go home...end of story."
The other fast biter walked off in a huff and the other one was well behind him.
As they were talking, Amy was trying to interpet what that was about. She didn't have to need a translator though to tell that one of the was angry and the other was clueless. However, she did pick out a few words from their conversation. She heard a "rah" and "caw", so this made her think they were talking about Red Claw.
Amy, curious, wanted to follow them, but then stayed to herself and tried to decide what to do.
"If Redclaw is behind all this, then I suggest we try to negotiate with him," said Chronicler. Before Mr. Threehorn had a chance to respond, Chronicler added, "Before you decide to flat-out reject the idea, need I remind you that this is a hostage situation we're dealing with here? Pangaea is still alive, but for what reason? The only one I can think of is that the sharpteeth want something. If we talk to them, we will know what it is they want. If we can give them what they want, they might gives us back Pangaea and we can all go home without any serious injuries."
Chronicler had to admit, he was actually liking the opportunities he now had due to the current situation. Chomper was the only one who could speak Sharptooth. Ruby, being Chomper's caretaker, was someone that Chomper always trusted. And, for reasons that even he himself had yet to understand, Ruby trusted Chronicler more than enough to do anything he said. All this meant that Chronicler was currently in a position of power, though he chose not to say this to anyone to avoid coming across as some power-hungry dictator. Instead, he wanted to use his current position of power to save lives. And, unlike a power-hungry dictator, if he ends up making a mistake, he would admit it and accept responsibility for it.
(OOC: Mrykin and Chomper are in Mr. Three Horn's group right?)
After a lengthy pause, Mr. Three Horn laughed heartily at this. With other dinosaurs laughing along with him.
"Are you serious?!" A spike tail exclaimed between laughs.
However, Mr. Three Horn stopped laughing by making a stern face, "Kid, let me ask you something, let's say the sharpteeth were willing to "negotiate" with us, what then? It's not as if any of us can speak sharpteeth...except for that child sharptooth and that newcomer...whatever his name is. And do you think for one minute we will trade in another sacrifice for this sharptooth? If we know Red Claw and other sharpteeth, it's that they will do anything to feast on a bit of blood. So whatever Red Claw wants, it has to include one of us!"
Some Great Valley dinosaurs shivered at the thought of this. They never in their life would want to traded in to a sharptooth's jaws, especially for someone they hardly knew at all. If it was someone else, like Grandfather Longneck or Mr. Three Horn, they would sure be more than happy to oblige to the plan, no matter how desperate it sounded.
-----------
Amy followed the sharp teeth as silently and swiftly as she could, being sure as to not arouse any suspiscion of the sharpteeth to look her way.
I hope the others aren't too worried about me.
As she followed them, the sun was setting and the rain was pouring harder, by every last drop, the rain would become a little bit tougher.
Then she saw a tree that she thought would be a perfect place to hide from the rain AND the sharpteeth as well as to look on to see if anything else was around.
Amy climbed up and scurried to certain branches, not without a challenge however. She kept to herself as she saw the fast biters down below and then herds more whiped around the tree to go to a certain direction.
Wow, I wonder what's going on. Must be a lot of food or something if many are coming that way.
Her heart sank however once she thought of the worst.
Oh no! The Great Valley dinosaurs must be looking for me...gah...if those fast biters touch any of those leaf eaters, I-I'll-gah!
So she climbed further and further up of the tree and she knew her fears were coming alive. The fast biters were heading towards the Great Valley.
(Just double posting because I saw something in the past posts that contradicted with what I made Mr. Three Horn say in my later post.)
Petrie's mother heard over the conversation and decided to stick up for Chronicler, remembering what she said in the Great Valley.
"Listen Three Horn, I don't care what your speciest ideas are, just remember this; Chomper and Claw are sharpteeth that would not harm any of us if we were to be in jeopardy. Personally, I think it's a good idea and it will be for certain that it will keep less blood shed. And plus...no one is going to be sacrificed to these sharpteeth, not if we can help it." She smiled as she flashed her claws under the setting sun.
There was murmuring with the rest of the crowd and started to consider what Rebecca, the blue flyer was saying.
Mr. Three Horn sighed and said, "Okay..okay I get it. Let's get the sharpteeth to speak with the other sharpteeth."
---------------
Tria realized that there was no one to be found, so she looked ahead at a path that the other leaf eaters used to travel within the Great Valley.
Something is definitely wrong here. She thought to herself as the pink three horn made her way out of the valley to the Mysterious Beyond.
Suddenly, she hears a rustle in the wind, or rather a rustle in a tree. She looks up and asks carefully, "Hello? Who's there?"
A brown beak emerged from the tree and two pairs of brown eyes stared at the tree sweet colored creature below.
"You! You're that flyer girl! What are you doing up there?" Tria asked.
Amy stayed silent for a bit and sighed, "It's a bit of long story..." She started to say, but then shook her head and said, "Well...what are you doing here? And how's the rest of the Great Valley?"
"They left sweetie, even Topsy-"
"They weren't looking for me were they?"
"What do you mean looking for you?"
"Well...like I said, it's a long story."
Tria went under the tree to avoid rain and they talked for a little while longer and Amy tried as much as she could to explain carefully her part of the story.
When she was done Tria had tears fill her eyes and proclaimed, "I'm so sorry you felt so unwelcome, Topsy doesn't usually mean those things he says, he just...loves our valley. You mustn't take it too hard."
She smiled at Amy to hopefully make her understand. Amy shook her head, not understanding at all why someone like Tria would take the crud that she did from Mr. Three Horn. However, she managed to say, "It's not just Mr. Three Horn, I just think it would make the valley safer if I left, you know, so Red Claw had something else to focus on besides trying to get you and the others there." She shrugged as she said this, as if she just described the weather.
Tria shook her head with tears and stated, "Honey, you are a very sweet dear, but you are putting yourself in jeopardy when you do that. So how about we both go and find the others." She smiled hoping Amy would agree.
Amy smiled back and sighed, "Alright ma'm...but-" She jumped from the branch, unto the rose colored Three Horn's back.
"Be sure to keep quiet, fast biters are great in numbers right now."
"Yes...but so is the Great Valley." Tria smiled back as she stated this.
Then, they ran off into the rainy night, with Amy clinging onto the Three Horn's back.
Chronicler had face-palmed when Mr. Threehorn first said his thoughts on the idea of a negotiation and everyone else seemed to side with him. I'm surrounded by idiots, he thought to himself. Before he could think of anything to say, Mrs. Flyer came in and stood up for him. Nice to see some people around with with some sanity, thought Chronicler.
Now that Mr. Threehorn was starting to have second thoughts, Chronicler knew that he had to be persistent to get his point across. "Besides, I'm not going to just walk up to them and immediately offer a sacrifice," argued Chronicler. "That is the last option I will use, believe me. If we're going to negotiate with them, I will make sure that we get the best deal possible for us. And if nothing works out, then at least we might be able to walk away with some answers. If the talks fail completely, then I'll willingly step aside and let you take it from there, and I know what you would do at that point."
"And it's not like you have to just stand here, while we'll be negotiating." Claw joined in "Those of us who can fly, could fly around and check if Red Claw didn't prepare some sort of trap for us or ambush... In addition, if it comes to talking with Red Claw, I would feel a lot safer with you right by our side, Mr. Threehorn." he added honestly. If the fight breaks out suddenly in negotiations, it will be better to have someone experienced in fighting with sharpteeth (like Mr. Threehorn) nearby.
Rob wasn't sure what to think about the negotiations. Chronicler seemed to have an idea of what he wanted to do, but at the same time he had figured Red Claw may not be the one to discuss things with. "I don't know about this," he said with concern. "Red Claw may be trying to draw us in even further into a trap if we try to talk this out." He looked towards Mr. Threehorn. "If we go through with negotiating, we need to have a back up plan, because he will most likely not abide to a deal."
Littlefoot still couldn't get Rob off his mind. Ever since he saw him, he was intrigued by him. Now, he was scared for him. He didn't want anything bad to happen to him, despite only knowing him for a short period of time. "I hope nothing happens to Rob," he thought out loud.
Zaine overheard Littlefoot's concern. "Don't worry, Littlefoot. We're going to help them out. Nothing bad is going to happen to Rob." He was surprised at how concerned Littlefoot was for Rob. He certainly didn't know him enough himself to argue his worries, but Littlefoot had no communication with him whatsoever. "Is this about what he said to you back at the valley?"
Littlefoot nodded. "I know it seems strange, but I feel like I know him from before. Call me crazy, but I think I've seen him in my sleep stories."
Zaine was confused. "How does that make sense? If he came from an entirely different world, how would you have seen him?"
"I don't know," Littlefoot admitted, "but if we don't help him and the others, I may never find out."
Meanwhile, Anna remained quiet as she listened to everything that was being said around her.  In the back of her mind, she wanted to go after the children but knew that would only lead sharpteeth to them.
-------------------
At the same time, Tricia was wandering through the valley looking for any sign of her family.
"While they are negotiating there is no reason we can't be getting ready ourselves in case something does happen." Mim said.
"Indeed, be ready for anything deceitful." Flapper said waving the stick he had, a former tree branch he found on the ground that looked like it may make an ok club.
"Well," Grandpa Longneck said, "We should try to talking to them, but it would be unwise to let our guard down, just in case it does not work or they are up to something." He said.
----
"We just watch and wait?" Petrie asked quietly.
Mr. Three Horn's ego was automatically boosted by Claw's comment and he tipped his head in acknowledging Claw's statement with a huge, proud grin on his face, his chest puffed out, and his crest high to pitch black sky, in which sky water fell from.
However, to Rob's statement, Mr. Three Horn stated, "Well...then maybe we should have our strongest dinosaurs be in the back from Claw and the youngin'...I guess me and a few others should go in the back to be sure no sharpteeth sneak up on us. And then Claw and Chomper can have someone, a body guard perhaps so the dumb sharpteeth don't start any funny business."
