“Well...I guess I’ll stay behind, then,” Pangaea replied hesitantly. “Just...when you find Chronicler, please tell him I’m really thankful for what he did!” he called after Ruby, “And if you can, try to find me afterwards so I can find out what happened to him!”
At that moment, Pangaea was struck with a pang of concern for another dinosaur. “Now where did Guido get off to?” he wondered aloud.
“THERE YOU ARE!” a voice suddenly screeched, causing Pangaea to jump. He turned in the direction of the voice, only for a flying teal blur to strike him in the chest with such force that it almost knocked him over. Upon regaining his balance, Pangaea found Guido clinging to him like a long-lost relative.
“I thought you were dead!” the smaller glider cried, “...again!”
A mischievous smirk spread across Pangaea’s face. “Oh, hugging now, are we?” he chuckled, “Well then, you asked for it!”
“Gaaaahhh!” Guido squawked as Pangaea enveloped him in a bone-crushing hug. After a few seconds, he released him.
“What’re you trying to do, kill me?” Guido gasped.
Pangaea shrugged, a wiseguy grin on his face. “I just give really strong hugs,” he said, “Actually, I kinda took it easy on ya there. I hug my family members even harder than that.”
“Family?!” Guido exclaimed, “You have family?!”
“Uh...yeah, in the human world,” Pangaea replied. He realized that he had forgotten that, despite having knowing Pangaea’s real identity, Guido still thought of him as one of his own kind. “But don’t worry; as long as I’m here, I’ll think of you as my family.”
“B–But you said we aren’t brothers,” Guido pointed out.
“Well...we’re not related, but we can be brothers like Ducky and Spike are brothers.”
Guido seemed to like the idea. “Sounds good to me,” he said, grinning, “As long as you don’t hug me like that again.”
“Will do,” Pangaea replied with a chuckle. “Speaking of Ducky, I still haven’t had a chance to talk to her. Or any of your friends, for that matter. Well...you introduced me to Cera, but we barely chatted at all. I’d like to find them and see if I can get in a real conversation.”
“It’s the middle of the night,” Guido told him, “Do you think any of them are even awake?”
“Well, the valley just had a sharptooth invasion. You think they managed to sleep through that? Actually, it would probably be a good idea for us to make sure they’re all okay.”
“Hmm...yeah,” Guido agreed, “Good point.”
“So let’s go and look for ëem,” Pangaea said, “You lead the way.”

Screech stopped at the dead end in the cave, looking around in confusion for Chronicler. “Where did that confounded fast runner go?” he growled to Thud.
