Pangaea simply uttered a quiet “thank you” to Rick. As touched as he was that anyone (especially someone he didn’t feel he knew very well) would offer to risk their life for him, the prospect worried him. He didn’t share Rick’s confidence, had little self-esteem, and regarded himself as generally useless (though he made a constant effort to not be so). Truthfully, he didn’t think of himself as someone worth saving in a life-or-death situation. If someone died while trying to protect him, he wasn’t sure if he could bear the guilt.

Screech hadn’t made it to the gap before the rocks filled it and Red Claw was buried. Frantically, Screech began yanking rocks out of the pile in an attempt to free his leader.
“You big, stupid, stubborn, overstuffed, pebble-brained bonecruncher!” he cursed at Red Claw (if he wasn’t dead, Screech knew, he was surely unconscious), “You never listen to reason!”

Pangaea (accompanied by Rick) finally reached the site of the battle. By now, the gap was filled in with rocks, and there were no sharpteeth to be seen.
“Late, as usual,” Pangaea muttered under his breath, though he was relieved that the danger was apparently over. “What happened?” he asked, panicked that someone had been hurt, “What did we miss?”
