The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

As they approached the wall, Anna looked up at the massive hole and whistled.

"Holy crap!  Talk about major construction project," Anna gasped as she gently shook Tricia awake.  "I gotta set ya down now, Tricia."  Tricia giggled as Anna gently set her on the ground.

"Oooookay!  Where shall we begin?" Anna asked as she eyed the hole again.

Rick chose that moment to step into the conversation between Topsy and Pangaea.
"Actually...from what I've seen of sharpteeth like Redclaw, even being blind may not stop him. After all he still has his sense of smell, which is much better than ours." He then took a moment to sigh waiting for Mr.Threehorn to start yelling at him for interrupting their conversation.

Longtail on the other wing was glad to finally find his friends near the great wall, and he could now see the hole for himself. "WOAH!!!" he cried as he came to a stop and landed on the ground. He then turned to some of the adults in the group and asked, "How do we close that?! It's huge!!!"

Grandma Longneck then gently set Sam down on the ground and commented. "Did you enjoy the ride?" She then looked over at her grandson and replied, "Be careful Littlefoot, those rocks may not be safe yet."

Spike laughed at Cera's comment of Anna being Tricia's new babysitter.

Grandpa Longneck lowered his head to the ground so his passenger could get off.  "Any ideas on how best to start on repairing this?" he asked those present.

Mim and Flapper came over closer so they could get a good look.

"Why not just put rocks on like always?" Petrie asked.

As soon as Chronicler saw the damage, he said, "That's not a hole, that's a gap. We definitely need to close this off." When he heard Petrie's suggestion, he said, "No, that won't be enough." Chronicler decided to explain his plan to everybody. "Alright everyone, the main problem here is not to close off this gap but to prevent it from reopening. We can't just fill in the gap with a random pile of rocks and forget about it. All it would take to bring it down is a good sized earthshake.There are may ways we could solve this, but due to the lack of proper materials, we're going to have to settle with something basic and quite time-consuming. There's no way we could ever make something earthshake-proof, but we can make it more resistant to earthshakes, meaning that it would take a much larger earthshake to bring it down. There is only one requirement I'm asking for: the bigger rocks go on the bottom of the pile and the smaller rocks go on the top. In a random pile, the whole thing could come down, but by taking my suggestion I believe the worst we will get is losing some of the top of the pile, and I'm sure you'll all agree that it's much easier to repair some minor damage than to refill a reopened gap. What do you guys think of this plan?"

"Sounds like it could work," Anna replied to Chronicler.  "One thing we definitely need to make sure of is that the wall is tight so the rocks don't fall down easily."  Meanwhile, Cera was starting to get worried about her father.  Normally, he would be one of the first residents present in an operation like this, but he had not even come yet.  Cera figured that either he was holding a terribly huge grudge against everyone, or his paw had been more seriously injured than it had looked.

"not bad,not bad at all" Belmont said  as he stared at the giant hole(or gap) in the Great Wall it did seem like a big problem at first but now it seemed to get easier with Chronicler helping out.

"What about mortar?" 'Thomas' suggested. "We can crush some rocks and mix them with water and mud, and use the liquid to fill the gaps between the rocks. This will hold the wall together far better than it was previously."

"I would have suggested that, but I don't know how to make mortar," replied Chronicler to "Thomas'" question. "Are you sure it's that easy to make some?"

"It's easy. We just need to mix water and crushed rock, and add some sand, then apply it to the spaces between the rocks we place in the great wall." 'Thomas' replied.

"Yes I did thank you,' sam said sliding down grandma longnecks tail and stepping on the ground. "It may be a major fix but remember it took dockyard workers 3 days to get the USS Yorktown back in action before the battle of midway,' sam said to anna.

------------

Johan looked at rita and rita looked at johan with a reassuring look on her face.

--------------

"What is this uss yorktown,' mr thicknose asked.

-----------------

Thud sniffed the air he smelled blood "do you smell that,' thud asked screech and redclaw.

"You're right," Anna replied to Sam.  "I'm sure we can all fix this if we stay positive.  There's one thing I'm wonderin' about, though.  What if sharpteeth attack us while we're busy at work?"

"I do not like the thought of that, oh no no no," Ducky said anxiously as she ducked behind Cera's napeshield.

"Tell me about it.  We just had a nasty run-in with Redclaw and his fastbiters just yesterday," Cera added.

"Well, all I can say is that I hope we don't get ambushed, but the possibility is still there," Anna said.  "I'd suggest we work in groups of two or greater.  The little ones should have at least one of the older folks with 'em."

"That sounds good, yes it does," Ducky said.

"Now, about the mortar.  How will we transport the supplies we need, or will the mortar be made in a different location from this wall and then transported here?  Either way, how will we do this?" Anna asked.

"Well, we have the get some stone and sand, and bring it to be mixed with water. I suppose we could make some baskets to carry it in out of reeds, and move it over to the Great Wall from there... " 'Thomas' replied.

"That is part of why I suggested we have some flyers keep watch for any sharpteeth and fast biters.  They can see things pretty far off when they fly around or are on high places so could give us some warning about any that are coming in this direction." Grandpa Longneck said.

"How about using some crushed leaves, some of those are sticky, and some treesap as well." Flapper said, remembering about Mr. Thicknose singing about how treestar juice being sticky & the origin of amber and how insects sometimes to stuck in it and it later hardened.  "Maybe some grass with the mud also."

Amy, who was ontop of Grandpa Longneck's head still, was wary of being high up.

"Excuse me, Mr. Longneck, can you lower me down please?" Then she whispered to him so no one else could hear, "I'm afraid of heights." She didn't want to say "phobia" because that was not true at all, she just had to work hard to overcome the fear.

Little Foot said to his grandmother, "I'll be okay." He jumped onto another rock and said, "That sounds like a good idea Thomas, so what are we waiting for? Let's do it! He turned to Petrie and said, "Petrie, maybe you can fly up to see if there are any sharpteeth." He was hoping his friend would be willing to overcome his fear of sharpteeth, but knowing Petrie, he had to work hard to overcome it.

"No! I don't want him to do that!" A voice arose. Little Foot turned to see Rebecca, Petrie's mom, "But I'll look with him." She smiled. She called out to Pterano to see if he would come as well.

Red Claw heard Thud's grumble and decided to sniff it out himself.

"Yes I smell it!" Red Claw growled back.
-------------
"Oh who asked you anyway?" Mr. Three Horn snorted at the young longneck.

"But you do have a point...er...Panna?" Mr. Three Horn was having a very hard time remembering the flyer's name.

“Pan-jee-uh,” Pangaea corrected Mr. Threehorn. He shrugged sheepishly. “I know...awful name. I, uh...kind of chose it myself. I’ve never been good at coming up with names.”

He turned momentarily to Rick, whose sudden appearance had startled him somewhat.

“Just to clarify, I didn’t say being blind would stop Red Claw. I just said he wouldn’t be as dangerous. He can still find us as easily as ever, but in close combat, he’s at a disadvantage. He might be able to smell where his opponents are, but it won’t be so easy for him to anticipate a tail or a foot coming at him. As long as we keep a lookout for him and his thugs, we should be okay.”

“You’ll have to excuse me,” he told Rick quietly, “I’m having a sort of philosophical debate with Mr. Threehorn right now, so...forgive me if I appear to be ignoring you.”

“Anyway,” he said to Mr. Threehorn, “what I’m suggesting is that you try to look at things from the perspectives of those you’re fighting against. For example, what if, when you had arrived at the Great Valley, someone was already here who didn’t want to let YOU in?”

Pronounced "pan-JEE-uh". Spelled with three A's. Represented by a Lystrosaurus.

Grandma Longneck liked the sound of using this mortar to fix the wall but looked down to Sam and asked, "But how would we move the sand that we do find? Most of us don't have hands to carry it in."

Spike now getting bored began munching on a fern nearby as he listened to the adults talking amongst each other.

~~~
Rick smiled and replied to Topsy.
"Well to be honest no one, but I figured it might do some good to hear another's opinion."
"I believe I can help" Pterano said, landing near Sam and 'Thomas.'
"Just how long have you been watching us?" the human asked.
"Long enough to tell that you will need my help" Pterano responded.
"Right. And just what can a flyer do to help manufacture and transport mortal over a great distance?"
"Hands. I can convince the other flyers to help me make containers for the mortar ingredients, and mix them with the rest of you."
"And just WHY will the flyers listen to you?"
"They like what I have to say."
"About the flyers being the 'fastest, smartest, and greatest race on the planet?'"
"And best-looking too."
"Right..."
"Do I detect a note of sarcasm in your voice?"
"Whatever. Can you get it done?"
"Certainly. My skills in demagoguery- er- oratory will not fail you..."
"It is comming from two sources a rainbow face and a swimmer,' thud said sniffing the air some more.
