The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Torvin shrugged. "Sure. I've got the Strutho watching the Stygium and supervising my assistants,"

"Hey! That's not how you melt Orichalc!" the Struth said to a Human assistant who had placed an ingot of Orichalc into the fire.

"Great!" Cassia was excited to have a chance to relax. It was even better to do so with a male of her species. "Where are these springs? Should we go together, or should one of us go there first?" Cassia and Torvin clearly had different thoughts about each other. She was attracted to him, while his view of the situation was that they were just friends.

Alima, meanwhile, slept on. She was expecting to lay her eggs in about a week, so she had to be careful with her health and safety.

(OOC:  How about our group skip right back to the guild and start from there, Noname?)

(OOC: That works. In the future, please post such questions on the discussion page for this RP. That is a good idea, though. Let's put them in the guild.)

(OOC:  Ok then.)

The group was finally back at the guild.  Halo, Youri, Shiana, & Storm Paw waited in the lobby.  The Dracon's last words had them wondering...

Ophion addressed the group. He had to get back to his home. Aurescia was probably wondering where her husband was, and his children were wondering about their father.

"Well, everyone, I can't say its been fun, but I can say that it has been an honor. All of you have proven your worth several times over, and we have stopped a serious threat to the city, and quite possibly to all Dracons. If you ever want to look me up, just head to the shop which bears my name. Thank you all."

With that, the mage went home, leaving the party in the capable hands of Silverfang.

"Is everyone okay? I know that we made it to the guild safely, and that the cabal was defeated. I'm sorry that there was so little gain to be had, at least in the material sense. If any of you wish for some kind of compensation from the guild, you have but to ask." The wise mage had his disguise back on, but the party was still able to see through it, thanks to Silverfang exempting them from the effects of the illusion spell he had cast.

"There is no desire for anything from you and your guild," Shiana replied.  "The knowledge that a great evil is vanquished is reward for us."

Halo & Storm Paw nodded in agreement, while Youri was slightly aloof in his own thoughts.

"Anyway," Halo started, "remembering what you said about a darker evil making a presence soon after the defeat of the cabal, perhaps when we return to Willowrock, we'll speak with the Knights of the Cloak to see if there's anything they can do.  They are better adept to fighting demons and devils than us."

Shiana looked around for signs of Selene.

Selene showed herself, having explained her desires to possibly leave the guild for a time to study abroad with Youri and the others. Silverfang would release her if she agreed to come back one day.

"Well, I have permission to leave and study in other lands. If we go, I am ready to leave as I am, taking only my natural magic. How long would such a trip be?" She asked Youri and the others, not knowing where they might go.

(OOC: If you want, we can spin this off into another RP, or keep a side-plot in it, if Youri and the others are going to leave the Dracon lands.)

Shiana smiled at Selene's decision to come along after all.  "It's a two day ferry to the ocean coast, then a ship will take us straight to Willowrock."

"But the ferry won't come until the day after tomorrow," Youri pointed out.

(OOC:  Chances are the initial group won't be able to leave again, so the Knights of the Cloak may have to come over themselves.)

Selene looked at them and smiled "Wow, that must be a pretty fast ferry, considering that we are in the middle of the desert!" She laughed for a moment, then calmed down. "Seriously, I know what you mean. I know that there is a river not too far away from here, and that certain ships are enchanted to go fast enough to take us to one of several seaports. Yeah. I'll be find. Is it cold where we are going?"

Being a dracon, Selene was not used to the cold, although she get used to it. Her normal clothes were rather light, but they covered what was needed. The sorceress decided against taking anything save for a bit of cash. The magic generated from her own body was sufficient for her needs, or so she thought.

The Strutho was dealing with the customers and dispensing metallurgical advice to them.

He noticed someone handling a small Darksteel ring. The ring itself was quite bland, just a bunch of flattened Darksteel ribbons woven together.

"Sir, put that back," the Strutho said.

The man appeared to comply but as soon as the Struth turned his back, he stuck it into his pocket.

The Strutho was advising a customer about the choices of metal for magical swords when he saw the man steal the ring.

"Hey! Put that back!" the Strutho shouted.

The man ran out of the shop and the Strutho gave chase..

----------------------

Torvin just shrugged. "Why not?" he said.

The air was shattered by the sound of the Strutho shouting at someone and running feet, both the heavy footsteps of the Strutho and the lighter footsteps of someone else.

It was Cassia who reacted first, before Torvin had even turned around, Cassia had already given chase to the man. Her speed and reflexes were amazing, even by the standards of equines. She had chosen well when she picked armor that was light, but protective. It didn't take her long to catch up to the man. Instead of simply tackling him, Cassia tried something different, which only an adventurer of the highest agility could hope to do.

Running from behind him, the female equine leaped into the air, jumping right in front of him headfirst, bringing her hooved feet down around his neck. Grabbing him with her strong legs, she threw the human down to the ground, sending him onto the hard soil on his back. Before he had a chance to recover, Cassia knelt down over him, placing his head and neck between her legs while resting on his chest, making it hard for him to move, and impossible for him to escape.

Hearing the Strutho coming up from behind, Cassia gave a quick speech to the man. "I don't know who you are or what you've done, but whatever it is, its over. If you stole something, you will return it. If you broke something, you will fix it or pay for it. I am NOT in the mood for this, human. You may very well have ruined a very good night for me, and I will be VERY mad if you give me more $#!+. Now, what did you do? Come on, spit it out!"

Despite her light arms and armor, Cassia was not to be underestimated, especially when she was angry.

"I don't think it will be cold for another three months," Shiana replied.  "And it will be one more month after that until it snows."

"Snow will be better than desert sand for the case," Youri added.

"At least until you start getting sick of the snow," Halo joked.

"I have no problems with either.  I'd just rather look at snow than dirt..."

"What's that like?" Selene asked Youri. "Snow... it is white and cold, but is it too cold to walk on? Can it be made into shapes? I've heard a lot about it, but have never seen it myself. The only snow we get around here comes from spells, although I think there's a bit of it on the highest mountains."

"Thanks, Cassia!" the Strutho said. He was fast but even he was amazed by Cassia's speed.

"I don't know what you're talking about," the man said.

"The ring," the Strutho said.

"I don't have it!"

The Strutho bent down and snipped open the man's pocket with his beak. The Darksteel ring came out.

"That was the ring I saw you steal," the Strutho said coldly. "I'll take it back now." "Oh, and if you ever come back here again. I will personally kick your face in," he added. He then picked up the ring up in his beak and placed it in his mouth being careful not to swallow it.

Cassia got up off the man. "Don't let me catch you again, or I'll kick a lot more than your face..." She said, stomping with her hooves ominously. Turning to Torvin, she laughed. "Yeah, Torv, I am quite fast. It's very helpful to me in combat, especially given my style of fighting. Oh... I can be so mean when someone pisses me off, you know?"

The female equine went into combat armed with a rapier and clad only in light mithril chain armor and a short shirt over her chest, and additional mithril chain covering her loins, but she was trained to use her whole body in combat, how to fight unarmed, and how to use her speed and agility to their fullest advantage. She was a passionate fighter, able to channel her emotions into a battle, and was prone to bouts of great joy and anger alike, especially when it came to matters of her desire.

Her thoughts turned to relaxing, and how she hoped she and Torvin could still relax in the hot springs.

"Sounds like we'll be talking the rest of our time here," Halo said, and bowed his head to Silverfang.  "We thank you for allowing us to assist you in protecting your lands."

Meanwhile, Shiana was the one explaining snow & winter, its beauty and its perils.

"It is we who should be thanking you, Youri. But... you are welcome" Silverfang replied, with a smile. "If there is anything else you or your team needs, you have but to ask me. You will always be welcome among us."

Meanwhile, Selene listened intently to Shiana. According to her, snow could be molded into a wide variety of shapes, the most popular of which was a round shaped snowball which could then be thrown. Apparently, this was considered a fun thing to do. But, in addition to all the fun snow could bring, it could also harm or even kill. Too much snow and cold could lead to one freezing to death.

"It seems like I will have to get used this new climate. Do you think I will be comfortable, dressed as I am?" the Dracon girl asked.

"I'm not sure," Shiana replied as the group began to leave the guild hall.  "I know dragons can handle most temperatures.  But there's always warmer clothing available if you need it."

Halo and Youri walked on ahead to buy two rooms for their extended stay, leaving Selene, Shiana, & Storm Paw to continue the conversation.

Selene looked around, a bit nervous. "Well, I am a dracon, not a dragon. It's easy to confuse the two. Dragons are much more powerful, and have four legs, not to mention wings and their tremendous size. If there is nothing more to do here, do you think we should be going off with Halo and Youri? I really appreciate you taking me along."

Pausing for a second, Selene was a bit curious. "What sort of warmer clothing are you thinking of?"
