Stripetail looked at the Human "Yes, for our purposes the females will be even more difficult then the males. The females are fiercely protective of their young like most wild creaatures, and will not hesistate to attack. as for destroying all of them in one blow,that simply won't happen. It would take somethung along the lines of a direct hit from a hydrogen bomb, to do it and the fallout would probably kill us off as well. we are going to have to force them back underground, by any means necessary, short of that." Stripetail replied.

"Stripetail we need to first rest and regain our strength. " "Those things, Dixie are taking over the cafe as we speak. " Nick replied. "I have no intention of having my resterayunt become breeding ground for those Shurlups. Night now there's about 50, once the females and young come , we could be looking at 500. half of which carry a very potent poision, plus the ability to reproduce in such number to make rabbit look prudish by comparison.. time is not our ally here. there is no simple solution here. Stripetail, Scooby, and Dixie have nmagical powers and armor, Angel, Stitch, and Petrie and Ducky have powers of their own. The rest of us, dopn't have any natural protection to speak off, , other than our wits and whatever weapons we may have on us. what we lack in power, we must make up for in strategy. We should first secure a beachhead, a place where we can launch raids against the shurlps. A prime candiate for this would be my office. its nbear the back of the resteraunt, so its unlikely the Shurlups have gone sniffing around there,, yet. I'm going in, though the back door. Dixie, Scooby, Angel, and Stitch, you come with me. " Nick said.

"I have a few of my weapons in my gear bag that should be useful for now," the human spoke, "but I need to make a few calls for the rest of our stuff, and maybe some additional help."

"The least I need is my glaive," Talon inquired. "Tell them not to forget that."

"That sounds like a plan." Ducky said nodding, "I hope things will turn out as you hope, I do." She said.

"Sounds scary." Petrie said looking scared at the very thought of doing that.

You two are coming aklong. We are going to send a small group in first. once we've ecured the area. then more and more can come in." Nick replied. Stripetail smiled slightly, and gestured. a sword appeared out of midair and came to rest in front of Nick. "Take it my friend, you'll need it. I'll be right behind you, sj\hould you fall into trouble.' The wizard said. Nick nodded and grabbed the sword. it was a heavy sword and just swinging it back and forth put a strain on his arms.
Scooby put on his helmet back on, and prepared to head in.
_ Dixie got up. The blanket rubbed against her skin, and she winced. "I need my armor back " She said to Stripetail "whether it's clean or not." Stripetail nodded, and with a word brough the armor over from where they had set it and put it back on her. He then noticed Dixie was missing her sword. "Where is your sword?' he asked. "I lost it in the dining room while fighting those Shurlups" Dixie confessed. 'Well then you'll just have to use your ring until you recover it" the wizard said. "Now get going.

Ducky nods, "If you need us we'll be there." She said. She then assumed her position with Petrie standing behind her in his usual position since he could tell from her way of standing what would come next.

"It is morphing time." She said with a voice of command then moved her arms in a certain way ending with one hand on top of the other holding her fingers in a certain way with a brief spark going from one of her fingers to the other. Petrie did the same arm movements at the same time as Ducky with a spark jumping from one of his fingers to the other as well.

"Great Valley swimmer guardian." Ducky said. Water seemed to come from the floor and covered her sinking into her and changing her to her guardian form.

"Great Valley flier guardian." Petrie said. Lighting struck down through the ceiling roof, not damaging it and struck Petrie, the bright flash hiding him for a moment as he changed to his guardian form.

"Come on you guys' Nick said, motioning with his sword. Stitch and angel ndded, and walked up to him. Both had their second pair of arms out, and were prepared to use them.
Scooby and dixie folowed behind them. Nick walked on behind the resteraunt, and the glass crunched beneath his feet. it would be a few minutes to get to the back door.

Soon, the 7 of them reached the back door. Nick put his swiord down ioon the ground and fished out his skeleton key. he put the key to the keyhole afitted it and turned. the door creaked inward, revealing a dark and musty blackness. "Nick turned to the others "anyone got a match? It's oppitch black In there' "Rallow Re" Scooby said. "RIRE!" he commanded and cast a fireball from his ring into the building. the fireball flew through the air and recded into the distance. " Nick shot scooby a look. "And how was that supposed to help?"he asked sharply. "Rorry!" Scooby said apologetically. "Dixie sighed. "Are you afraid of the dark , nick?' he asked a little impatience in her voice."no, I have trouble finding my way in the dark. my vision isn't all that great, hence why i wear glasses" Nick explained. Cast a light spell from your ring Dixie, and I'll stick behind you. Stitch- STITCH! Don't tear up the door!'" he cried, bUt it was too late. Stitch had bitten into the door, and ripped off a long thin strip of wood. "Mesa make torch." He said. ripped off another strip and handing it to angel. "You guys need torch?' He asked Petrie and ducky, who were in thier morphed forms.

Both nodded, "That would be very nice if you would, as long as everyone who needs one has one." Ducky said. She had not seen a torch but could guess from the talk about fire and the way the sticks were held.

"Fire one can carry, is it safe?." He said, not having the idea one could carry fire around safely and was a bit unsure of the idea.

Stitch obliged ripping off 3 more strips from the door. "Light them, please" He said with a toothy grin. Dixie cast a fire spell on the top of the strips and in a twinkling, stitch had 4 lit Torches. Nick frowned as Stitch handed him one. "You Had to rip up the door" he grimaced at Stitch "Mesa sorry. but it only thing close i could use." Stitch explained. "there's no chair I could see...'

"Let's just keep going" Dixie saiing, rollin her eyes. Sh was wearing her helmet, so no one could actually see her face. But the irritance came through in her voice. "Had out the torches Stitch and let's get to Nick's office."
_ Stitch nodded and handed one to Angel , etrie and Ducky. "Hold from bottom" He said, directing Petrie on how to hold he wood. Nick prressed on ahead, holding the torch aloft. the mithril erain which had devastated he dining room. had reahed back here as well, there were small piles of mithril lying around on the round, and there were holes in te ceiling, wthin insulation anging down in strips.
. Dixie and scooby followed close behind, Scooby with his sword drawn, Dixie with her ring paw throst forward in an offenive position. they reached a orner at th end of the hallway. 'Ok. the office is on the right. two turns down. We can reachit through the kichen, whch would be riasky, as there is a lot of food there, which will atrract the shurlups. "Nick said looking down the hallway. As he said this, the rret of the groupcame up too him.

"Thanks." Ducky said as she took one of the make shift torches and held it up. She walked in behind most of the others.

Petrie took another and held it as far from him as his arm would let him, not sure about this. "You sure it safe?" he asked, not sure if having fire this close was a good thing, but the extra light it provided did help him to see better.

"Petrie, it should be safe why else would they have done this and be using it themselves." Ducky said.

"Me still not sure, but ok." Petrie said, but holding his torch up and walking along somewhat beside Ducky.

Meanwhile, the human had retrieved his gear that he brought with him: a pair of kukri with eagles etched into the blades. He then put out a call for help on his cellular, and received word that what they need will arrive in no more than twenty minutes. Finished, he sat back at the campfire where Talon is resting. "Twenty minutes," he said. "I just can't feel all that comfortable with that amount of time while others have already went back in the place."

"They look like they can take care of themselves," Talon replied. "Maybe they'll be able to give us time to really prepare for when things really heat up."

"True. I don't see this problem coming to an end any time soon."

"Any help we can get will be appreciated. " Stripetail replied. "But if you'tre thinking about a fullfledged assult, there are simply too many shurlups to avoid having that become a bloodbath.We would certainly suffer casualties. That however is unavoidable.. no matter what we do" The wizard said, looking into the fklames. "Also, this area is in a pocket of time space where time becomes twisted very easily. 20 minutes can be 20 hours, 20 days or 20 years. we'll be waiting for them for awhile at any rate. We need prepare our straegy. First we need to gain a stronghold. Nick, Scooby, Dixie and the others are in the process of doing that. Once that is clear. we'll move all those able and willing to that stronghold. We may have to buckle down there for awhile, so bring all the supplies you can mustrer. Once we're all set, we'll then move onto driving the Shrulups undeground. It won't be easy not with their numbers. They will outnumber us, 2 to 1 at the very least. and they will not give up their 'terrritory easily>"

Meanwhile. Scooby had moved ahead of nick, scanning the hallway for any signs of the Shurlups. There was a strong odor in the air, a smell of death and decay. it was pungent ebnough to make nick's eyes begin to water. "Sheesh, that smell's horrible! It must be from those Shurlups we killed in the dining room, they must be starting to decompose. I Wondr if Shurlups are cannibals..?"

"Please Nick, don't make me any more nervouius than I already am. and that smell you are smelling, well, its several times worse for me and Scooby, remember dogs have noses several times more sensitive than humans. ' Dixie said.

Yeah that almost as bad as gantu after he stepped in narfug doodoo>' stitch said wrinkling his nose. "nessiru" Angel said, in her alein tongue. It might have meant "terrible' or awful' or any number of things, because Nick was not familar with her language.

Ducky continued walking along holding the torch up with one hand and keeping her hand over her nose with the other. "It certainly does smell, it does. I guess that can not be avoided." She said not liking the smell but sure there was nothing they could do about getting rid of it. Her voice sounded a bit different then her usual morphed form due to her holding one of her hands on her nose.

"Like egg eater breath." Petrie said doing much the same as Ducky was. "Me glad me sniffer not as good as Spike or Chomper's." Petrie said. His voice also altered a bit by holding his nose.

"I can only hope it doesn't twist THAT far..." the human replied. "My blades and Talon's...talons aren't much for those things. We'd might as well be one of the injured..."

"Don't worry," Talon said, full of optimism. "We've been in situations worse than this, and we got without as much as a scratch. Besides, we'll be having help join us as soon as possible."

Just as he said it, a sonic boom echoed throughout the sky above them, and several bystanders pointed up to the sky.

"Look up there! It's a bird!"

"No! It's a plane!"

"It's a frog!"

"A frog?"

As if on cue, a flash of red and blue zipped downward towards the camp, soon revealed himself to be a beagle in a red sweater and blue cape. "I'm neither bird nor plane or even frog, it's just little old me, Under-" The beagle was cut off as he collided with the brick wall of a nearby building, leaving only a hole in the wall and a pile of bricks. His head popped out the piled and he gave an embarrassed laugh and snort before finishing, "Underdog..."

Both the human and Talon watched with their jaws dropped in utter disbelief...

Stripetail's eyes narrowed. "A grand enterance.. Mr Underdog.' He said giving the beagle a good looking over. there was a little sarcasm in his voice, at a time of need, you didn't need clusmy superheros coming and crashing into things. However, beggars can't be choosers... "We'll need all the help you can provide us. Inside that resteraunt.. "he pointed " is a large group of Shurlups, large beasts who have taken over the resteraunt and are probably going to use it as a nesting ground. Shurlups can multiply in number rapidly, and they are fierce fighters, we've already had a number of our party injured. We've sent a small group in to secure a safe haven for us, then more of us wil follow. We intend to drive the Shurlups bsack where they came from.. Will you help us?'

Snoopy and Skitter were with the injured helping out as best as they could, going from one to the other and using some of the liquid on the folk's wounds and making sure they were as comfortable as they could be.

At the sound Skitter looked up and started ran to hide under something so the person would not end up falling on him. It seemed to him that often if one of the big folk fell they nearly always ended up falling on him for some reason.

Snooopy more calmly looked up at the sound and watched, seeing the person was ok we went back to caring for the injured since he had been a bit busy before doing that.

Underdog dug his way out of the bricks and dusted himself off, then pulled out a large bag before turning to the squirrel. "Fear not, dear friend. For I have come by request of Talon and Kenji to assist in bringing your problem to an end."

"Everyone else is on vacation?" Kenji muttered low enough for only Talon to hear.

"Who knows?" the raptor replied. "But I like his rhyming. Long time no see, Underdog!"

Underdog turned to the source of the sound and his eyes lit up at familiar faces. "Ah! It is Kenji and Talon from vacation's rest. I was told to bring these for your quest."

As he handed the bag to his friends, Talon pulled out a large glaive, specially made for someone of his size and strength, and Kenji removed a pair of curved swords, one of which is smaller than the other. Also in the bag, were a few boxes of medical equipment and other items for special use.

"Thanks, Underdog," Kenji replied as he strapped both swords parallel across his back. "All we have to do now is wait for the others already inside..."

"Well at least you're not the Grinch" stripetail said."Lets see how the group is faring. he tossed some powder into the flames and caused an image to foermm It showed. Scooby Nick and Dixie heading down a hallway. Nick was saying something, but the image did not trasmit sound.

Ducky & Petrie walked along holding their torches as they looked around.

"It quite a mess, but it does seem like there are no of those creatures here, it does." Ducky said glad of that. She was a bit scared but was doing fairly well keeping it to one side as she looked around and remained as calm as she could. She hoped things would continue to go well as they were so far.

"They like sharptooths." Petrie said, looking around and a bit scared, as usual. He held his torch and moved it in the direction of where he was looking to try to see better. He was not sure about being here and was scared, but Ducky was here and this did need doing so he was doing his best to not be to scared.
