The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

I hate being corrected. I've always had, especially in public.
It varies from subject to subject, and I can accept that I was wrong. I mean, you learn something everyday. But I can't help feeling that it's... an insult
And the anger that emerge from it... holy crap. My vision gets dizzy with it.
And it gets worse when people make fun of me out of it.
Good thing I have the endurance of an angel.  :)
Do well. Live well. And dress very well.

Well...

I like classical music.
I like to eat slowly and this annoys some of my friends.
I don't like doing nothing in summer but sometimes I have to.
I have a sister who wants to be a model in her dreams.
Once I would like to fly on an airplane.
I shocked by 220kiloVolts several times, but it did not hurt. I have some own-built Tesla coils.  :smile
I love nature.
I don't have any broken bones.
I hate hard drinks and I don't like coffee.

That's all for now.  :angel

Ergh! Stop confusing me reality!

First I hear that it is the current that kills people when they are electrocuted, then I hear that it is the voltage, now I hear that it should be the current again! Make up your mind, electromagnetism goblins!

Ugh...I too hate being corrected. Especially if it's how I say a certain word. I c'mon, some people say "tomato" in different ways and people say "Caribbean" in different ways...so I don't understand why people want to correct me on how I talk...

That's good to know. I'll have to be reeeeeally careful talking to you two. :p As I've already mentioned several times on this forum, I'm a nitpicker by nature and have to force myself not to correct people all the time.

Well, both of them. Current must be at least 20-50mA, voltage must be at least 50Volts and there's another thing: the frequency. If the frequency is high enough it won't hurt you. Above 5000Hz it's safe I can say as the current can't reach your heart. It's based on the skin effect.

Going back to topic: I love lemon cakes!  :wow

^ I think there is a certain risk about being unable to stand being corrected no matter how constructive the criticism may be. In primary school I was a dreadful crybaby when it came to this. Seriously used to be pushed to tears even at the slightest and very well meant criticism :oops
It is possible to learn taking well meant criticism to heart but not to mood though and put it to good use then. Now I am certainly not an example of a thick-skinned character, but I did learn a lot since then and welcome constructive criticism trying to look at it from as neutral a perspective as I can muster to then decide if it would be prudent to act upon it.

There is a problem that I occasionally have that is in some ways the opposite of the one described above. Sometimes some people treat me like I was some kind of idol. Sometimes I impress people with what I say and I would be a poor liar if I pretended not to like some praise or even admiration for some of the things I do. However, sometimes it can really wear you down if you get too much of it. Also I have come to realize that very often people who admire you too much don't turn out to be good friends. The moment you do or say something that does not fit to the image these people have in mind of you, they'll drop you like a hot potato. I guess it is one of the reasons why, when looking for a soul mate, I hope to find someone of the same eye-level who neither gives nor commands a much higher level of praise or admiration.
Some time ago I added a line to my signature which refers to this problem.

Ditto that Malte. I'm not one to just latch onto people and call them "friends". Friendship is a big deal for me and as much as I know quite a range of people, I don't consider them "friends" per se. I have a close knit of local friends as well as in other areas (on the GOF for example :D) but I only class my friends but quality...never by quantity. I was never popular at school and I had a lot of "fair weather friends" that would ditch me at the drop of a hat. So with that I guess I've learned not to be too quick in establishing the label of "friend" until I truly knew what the person is about. Understandably, friends do have their squabbles at times but true friends can see through little things like that and realise what is really important. I have let friends down before (as much as I hate to) but I always reassure them that my loyalty never wavers. I'll make it up to them one way or another ;)

A big problem for me is that I’m never sure of how much I can criticize (constructively, of course :p) someone before I start to annoy them, or how much I can compliment someone before I start to sound flattering and insincere. At the risk of sounding braggartish (I always worry that I sound like I’m bragging whenever I say something positive about myself :rolleyes), I’m a very honest person; I don’t like to lie, and when I do I almost always feel guilty about it later. But if I were completely blunt and open all the time, I’d probably get a lot of people mad at me, and that’s something I definitely don’t want. Generally what I do to avoid getting on other people’s nerves when I compliment or criticize them is to offer them a little bit of both, often directly informing them of my sincerity and helpful intentions if I feel my compliments are too gushy or my nitpicking too severe. Of course, I’m always paranoid that my compliments and criticisms are too much, and often I worry that my paranoia itself is irritating to peopleóAaargh! :bang  No wonder I’m such a lousy socializer! :p

I really don't like most seltzer for some reason... maybe it is the strength of the carbonation?

I love extreme opposites for everything for some reason. Like I love sweet characters like Victoria(Dark Shadows) and Ducky, but I also love bad a** characters like Sierra and Barnabus(Dark Shadows)
