The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Another note, not that I AM against interacting with anyone's characters, I'm quite the opposite, I just wanted to keep a plot up and running without it getting run down or boring for anyone, but if most people just want the interaction for now, that's all fine and good. Maybe I'm expecting too much too fast.
Don't be ashamed of wanting to keep your RP on a specific track. :DD We as fellow members only offer ideas and suggestions for sub-plots to this game, you however as the GM get to make the final call. ;)

^^It's not so much I feel ashamed, it's just...a realization, an eye opener. I realize with different people playing this, a group game, we are bound to have different ideas and perceptions of how to go about this rp, I just was a little driven into what I wanted to do you know?

Anyhow, one final note before the new posters can post here. Is everyone ready for the rp to begin again? I made a summary to what was going on in the rp topic and what will happen, but I just want to see if everyone else is ready. I know those of you that made your characters "sleep" are ready, but I just want to know if everyone else is as well. Thank you and happy posting. :)

Ready. Can we assume that Claw and Chomper has already returned to Ruby's cave, so everyone can awake in their homes? :)

Although I feel like the threads comprising the fabric of my sanity are being gradually teased apart like the upholstery of a chair in a room filled with OCD cats :p (not because of anything to do with this RP, but life in general), I certainly don’t want to keep the new players waiting any longer. :angel (No word back from Blitz yet, by the way.) My characters might sleep in a bit, however, :P: and unfortunately to say, Pangaea will still be feeling guilt and depression over the deaths in the previous night’s battle (which he feels responsible for; sensing that the valley dinosaurs think the same is one source of motivation for him to go on the trip to the Big Water). A meeting with a spazzy Therizinosaurus should do him some good, though. :lol

^Me too, as far as the OCD cat metaphor thing. I have to admit though, it took me awhile to understand it. :p

Pretty much, I just want to see what Chronicler and some others have to say before we post again. :yes

I'm ready to continue. I've spent my waiting time working on my fanfic, so if you were wondering where I've been all this time, that's why.

Anyway, I've mentioned in the poll that I have some ideas on what I could do next. I first came up with one idea, then I came up with another which forced me to decide which one I should do, and now I've figured out a way to include both of them at once.

First of all, a reminder of how Claw will be cured. Chronicler, Claw, Ruby, and Chomper have to go to the place where Ruby's family lives to find the cure (which I've decided will be a few orange treestars). It takes them all day to get there (Half way there, they have to find a way across a break in the land cause by a recent earthquake).

Once Claw is cured, here's what my current plans are:

(This is the second idea I came up with.) First, Chronicler is getting very desperate to get back home, so later in the evening, he asks to be left alone for some time while he vents his anger. While he's on his own, he encounters a Fast-Biter who, like Chomper, can speak perfect Leaf-Eater. Chronicler sees this as an opportunity for himself. Suspicious that the Rainbowfaces might be responsible for bringing the GoF members to the LBT universe, he asks the Fast-Biter to find and capture a Rainbowface and get as much information out of him as possible, and in return, he would offer the Fast-Biter knowledge of various battle tactics used by humans.

(This is the first idea I came up with.) The following day, Ruby gives Chronicler a tour of her old home. During the tour, Chronicler discovers a surface deposit of iron ore atop a small hill. He decides to bring some of it back to the Great Valley and, using the Smoking Mountain as a natural forge, create a simple sword. So, with some help, he hollows out a log to carry the iron and digs out enough of the iron to mostly fill the log. Stating there's no time to invent the wheel, he decides to tie vines around the log to use as handles to help carry the log, though it obviously requires two people to carry it.

(This is a very recent idea I came up with.) On their way back to the Great Valley, Chronicler and Ruby are carrying the log with iron down a slope of loose rocks when Chronicler slips on the rocks and falls. At first, he is more concerned about the load of iron being dumped on the ground. But then he sees his leg is bent in a way seems extremely painful. Ruby helps fix Chronicler's dislocated leg, but he is unable to go anywhere, so Ruby asks Claw and Chomper (I'm assuming they're still with us) to hurry to the Great Valley and get help to carry him. While they're gone, a pack of Fast-Biters find them. Against Ruby's wishes, Chronicler tells her that she has no choice but to fight them off herself, using his bamboo pole.

These are all the ideas I have at the moment. I'm not sure if anyone finds them interesting, but since you wanted to hear them, here they are. Let me know what you think.

That's fine, heh, you saying that now makes me want to go back to my fanfiction as well.

Good, thank you for reminding me about this. I wasn't sure how the cure for Claw was going to go about, but thanks, this makes sense.

Now for your plans:

Just checking, Do you plan to meet this fastbiter outside of the valley, or in the valley? I realize you, Ruby, Chomper, and Claw will be outside of the valley, but...I wasn't too sure if you were going to stay outside the valley for awhile or you were going to go back and forth.

I also want to say, Sam is playing the rainbow faces if I'm not mistaken, you might want to tell him about this plan so he knows you plan this capture.

Bringing swordsmanship to the RP huh? ^^ The host approves of ANY form of combat skills. hehe As long as it isn't some tank, battle ship, or any of that industrial warfare. It would be a little out of place I think...:lol but I could be wrong.

I say that's fine, would you want any of us to come to the rescue, or would you rather fight them off alone?

Just double posting again. :p

Alright, the ones I really haven't heard from yet are:

Blitz
Rocky
Belmont200
Serris

I'm going to take a guess that ff-22 raptor ace is ready, but he has to tell me.

Other then that, I say we are pretty ready to go. :)

Edit: I also edited and added more content to the whole "dinosona" rule. You ARE allowed to change your species if playing a dinosaur version of yourself if desired or believe it would add a good, solid plot point in the rp. :yes

Once Claw is cured I plan on him telling the elders about Rinkus and Sierra. Hmm... Maybe I should talk to them before we go looking for the cure, since that's something they would like to know about.

Just some thoughts on the updated dinosona rule: While I don't object to the option of changing your dinosona species, I think it's something that could easily be overused, especially for plot purposes. It seems to me that the core of this RP is the relationship between the resident dinosaurs and the GOF members, with the latter having so far been generally accepted, but not entirely trusted, by the majority of the former (not including the gang and other major LBT characters whom various players have “bonded” with). The basis of this mistrust, as I see it, is the newcomers' strange behavior, mysterious origins, uncanny knowledge of their hosts, and the previously unknown species (humans) many of them identify with. I feel like this would be downplayed if the changing of dinosaur species became a widespread and prominent ability among the GOF members (for instance, if a player began changing his/her dinosona species indiscriminately). And subplots involving a character's change into a different kind of dinosaur could get old quickly if too many of them were created.

Maybe a condition of the rule should be that if a player wants to change his/her dinosona, he/she should bring it up in this thread, describing the nature and circumstances of the change and proposing how it will impact the plot.
