The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Rat_Lady 7: Allow me to answer the questions you have for my ideas.

Since it takes all day to get from the Great Valley to Ruby's family's home, I was thinking that the group of four would arrive by late afternoon or early evening and Claw is given the cure right away. They decide to stay there for the night, during which Chronicler goes off on his own and encounters the talking Fast-Biter. Also, I wasn't thinking of the two particular Rainbowfaces in the valley. Chronicler knows how difficult it would be for the Fast-Biter to capture one of those two, so he's assuming there are many other Rainbowfaces like them that just aren't in the Great Valley.

I'm only planning on making one sword, and using it as a weapon of intimidation with no intention of harming anyone (hacking off some tree branches with ease would be a great demonstration). Also, I guarantee there will be none of that industrial-type-weaponry, mostly because they all require gunpowder, which is much harder to make than you might think. Getting the key ingredients, hard as that may be, is the easy part; the hard part is mixing them together in the correct amounts. Even if you did know what the correct mixture is, which Chronicler doesn't, it would still be very difficult to get it right. In other words, there will be no guns or cannons in this RP at all simply because the gunpowder would be far too difficult to make.

For the final idea, I already mentioned that Chronicler, who is unable to go anywhere, convinces Ruby to fight the Fast-Biters the way he would have done so. Ruby does a good job at first, but it's ultimately too much. A rescue at the last possible minute is what I had in mind. As for who will come to the rescue, I think I'll let Myrkin decide that, since Chronicler sends Claw and Chomper to get help.

Just some thoughts on the updated dinosona rule: While I don't object to the option of changing your dinosona species, I think it's something that could easily be overused, especially for plot purposes. It seems to me that the core of this RP is the relationship between the resident dinosaurs and the GOF members, with the latter having so far been generally accepted, but not entirely trusted, by the majority of the former (not including the gang and other major LBT characters whom various players have “bonded” with). The basis of this mistrust, as I see it, is the newcomers' strange behavior, mysterious origins, uncanny knowledge of their hosts, and the previously unknown species (humans) many of them identify with. I feel like this would be downplayed if the changing of dinosaur species became a widespread and prominent ability among the GOF members (for instance, if a player began changing his/her dinosona species indiscriminately). And subplots involving a character's change into a different kind of dinosaur could get old quickly if too many of them were created.

I see your concern, but to be honest, I don't think too many people here (currently in this rp) have that "I do what the heck I want" mindset and just change species without warning. If that becomes a problem, then I'll simply make that rule stricter.

Quote
Maybe a condition of the rule should be that if a player wants to change his/her dinosona, he/she should bring it up in this thread, describing the nature and circumstances of the change and proposing how it will impact the plot.

Now this is something I would assume the players here would do anyway, rather then just winging it and doing what they want. Again I appreciate the fact you are voicing your opinion about this, but I don't think a lot of the players here have that "I do whateva I want!" attitude.

:oops eh...I didn't think you would do any industrial related weponry, I just said that more as a joke, but also to let others know that in this rp, we should try to make it as realistic to the LBT world as possible, while having our own selves be ourselves in dinosaur form or as human beings. And yeah...I can imagine making gunpowder being quite difficult...:p

Cool then. I think I would like to be one of those characters myself, since I would like to interact with Ruby and yourself. :yes

Fortunately, I think you're right. I'm more concerned about people who join this RP in the future doing those sorts of things. Sorry; I didn't mean to insinuate that any of the current players (that includes Blitz, Redtooth, FBS, and LBTDiclonius) were like that. :oops

Unless Claw and Chomper decide to take a nap. After all, Chronicler might not be the only one who needs to maintain perfect sleep schedule. :p

So, should Claw tell everybody about Rinkus and Sierra before going to find a cure? How elders would react to this news?

^Well, that would definitely add another plot point as well. Though you have to remember that Pterano only knows them by name and the others would not know who they were unless you gave descriptions of them.

I remember my character getting a weird vibe from your character, if I heard that, then it would make sense to why I felt like that.

Did you read both of my previous posts? This all takes place on the day after the group of four spends the night at Ruby's family's home. On their way back to the Great Valley, Chronicler slips and breaks his leg, which is why Ruby asks Claw and Chomper to go to the valley and get help. This doesn't takes place at night, far from it actually. Besides, all of this won't be happening until the day after the one we are almost about to start, so this plot could be months away. :neutral

Sleeping for one or two hours during a day isn't something unheard of, far from it, but this is not the point. The point is, that part you are quoting was a joke or at least it was intended to be one. Oh well... (notes to himself) That one didn't work well... Never say it again... (stops noting)

By the way... Why Ruby, Chomper and Claw will be unable to get Chronicler moving? I mean... If his leg is broken, they can help him walk. If he has fallen to some hole, they can help him get out, as difficult it may be.

Please read my previous posts. Earlier that day, Chronicler finds a surface deposit of iron ore, so he decides to dig out some of it and bring it to the Great Valley. You can have Claw and/or I have Ruby offer to help carry him after he breaks his leg, but he is so determined to get to his next project that he refuses to leave without the iron. (And they weren't carrying small handfuls, they had hollowed out a log to carry as much as possible, as requested by Chronicler.)

Anyway, like I said, we likely won't be able to get to this plot for months. Our characters still need to spend an entire day just to get to Ruby's family's home so Claw can be cured. Everything else after that will take place the following day, so that should give you an idea of how far ahead we really are talking about.

Edit: A note to everyone, it seems I can't tell the difference between joking and serious talk, :confused  so if you want to joke with me, either clearly mark that you're joking or don't joke at all.

I am probably considering turning into something like a Oviraptor. The name of this form will probably be Ovius.

I also play as Deimos (Utahraptor OC).

As for the name of my "Human-self"..."James" will do as I am not giving out my real name.

Question to Rat_lady7:

When do you want me to bring in the other sharpteeth to ally with RedClaw? I'm horrible at picking up subtle hints and get confused waaay too easily, so can you tell me when you want them in? :oops

I can't speak for Amy, but considering that she has yet to even wake up her characters in the RP (nothing wrong with that, mind you), I don't think you need to worry about it just yet. :p

By the way, I've begun thinking of a possible subplot in which Screech and Thud start to question Red Claw's leadership due to his deteriorating sanity and increasingly risky attempts at revenge, perhaps eventually leaving him (though it needn't necessarily be permanent) to settle their scores with the valleyers on their own. :idea I was thinking that this would perhaps provide more “room” for Red Claw to interact with the Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus characters. (I'm thinking that the presence of two much larger and more dangerous sharpteeth might even be part of the reason Thud and Screech decide to leave.)

Speaking of the Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus, I have a few questions on them myself:

ï Is the plan still to introduce the Giganotosaurus when the group of characters visit the Big Water, and have it follow them back to the valley?

ï Is Redtooth101 or FlipperBoidSkua playing the Spinosaurus?

ï Do the Giganotosaurus and Spinosaurus have names yet?

Well it was FBS's idea so I'm just waiting for the okay that I have permission to play the Spinosaurus.

By the way, quick question. From what I'v seen here, since this is the LBT universe from here then OCs created by us are real in the RP, right?
