The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

I was thinking of having myself switch back to my human form for the rescue party, but there was something else I wanted to run by. Would it be possible if I switched my dinosona? I think I'd prefer to become a fast biter over a longneck, and I didn't think about it until now.

What I was actually thinking of was having my character become trapped in a fast biter form and not be able to switch back to human form. Maybe during the fight I get only minorly injured and that causes me to turn into a fast biter, I don't know. Just an idea I had.
To my knowledge, Rat_lady7 never set any specific rules for how the human/dinosaur forms should work, so I don't think there's any problem with it. :) In fact, I think it's a really interesting idea (your character being injured by Screech or Thud and taking on a fast biter form).

Okay, so the rescue party is finally on its way.

Red Claw, Thud, and Screech are holding Pangaea captive because Red Claw is hoping that his real target, Amy, will be one of those who comes to rescue him. Unbeknownst to Red Claw (and in fact to everyone except Pangaea), Amy has left the Great Valley, so his gambit has already failed. Chomper could transmit this information to Red Claw, though Red Claw probably won't believe him. The group will have to rescue Pangaea by force in any case, but I have hardly any details planned. (I do think it should be another player's character who gets Screech to drop Pangea.)

With six RPers (not including myself) facing off against just three opponents (all played by me), I'm a little concerned that it'll be difficult for everyone to play a significant part in the upcoming action. If any of you had ideas or plans for what you wanted to do with your characters, it would be good if you could share them here. :)

Since I plan on getting injured, that could cause me to opt out of the fight or something, or I get knocked out. Otherwise, we could have more fast biters come by to have something for all our characters to fight.

I plan on getting injured but fighting until the end as well as helping some of the injured or defensless GV inhabitants get to safety.

Here's an idea I recently came up with. Before the fighting begins, Chomper suggests talking to Screech and Thud about letting Pangaea free. The negotiators for the rescue party will be Chomper, Ruby, Chronicler, and Claw (Myrkin), with Chomper being the translator. I haven't thought about how the talks will fail, but they will fail. (They have to, otherwise we won't get to the fight scene.)

How does this idea sound?

I, too, like the idea of bringing in several more fastbiters.  Each of us could determine how many fastbiters we would like to go up against.

Sounds good to me! :yes There's a convenient reason for the negotiations to fail as well: Screech holds a grudge against Pangaea for attacking and humiliating him during the sharpteeth's first attack on the valley; even if Chomper managed to convince Red Claw that Amy is gone and that he has no reason to keep Pangaea captive, Screech would refuse to release him. (The rest of the group would have to strike quickly afterwards, though, because Screech would have no reason not to begin  exacting his revenge on Pangaea either).

At first I was unsure about the idea of bringing more fast biters in, but it occurred to me that Red Claw would be expecting a rather large force of leafeaters to arrive, and would need a means of distracting them all if he were to get a shot at capturing Amy. How about I have Thud round up an unspecified number of other fast biters (using the promise of a large meal to motivate them to cooperate), who attack the group when the conflict begins, immediately following the failed negotiation attempt?

I had an additional idea that I might as well share: perhaps Screech could be the one who injures Rob. Rob could confront him with not only the intent of furthering the group's mission, but with the reasoning that Screech would be a somewhat safer opponent for him to confront, given that he's holding Pangaea and thus can't use his hands to fight. However, Screech manages to give Rob a shallow wound with one of his sickle claws, thus putting him out of commission. Unfortunately for Screech, this also punches Anna's berserk button; seeing Rob get injured, she whales on Screech and takes him out, freeing Pangaea in the process. I dunno if it sounds silly or anything, but what do you think of that?

Anyone else have any special things they'd like to do?

EDIT: I'm still not sure what role the gang could play in the rescue.

I do have one suggestion... although I'm not sure how I'd pull it off. :D Well in any case we all know about Longtail's infamous anger issues. With so many of his friends bound and determined to be involved in this upcoming fight, we all know someone is bound to get hurt... and his control over his emotions is usually on a thin thread as it is.

If anyone thinks this idea needs to be revised or changed feel free to say so. :)

Well, my character hasn’t really had a chance to meet Longtail personally (he’s seen him, but never spoken with him), but if Longtail is close to Rob, then I could see him as the other most likely individual to K.O. Screech. :p Or he could attack Red Claw; that might be even better, since I didn’t really have any idea of how they would ultimately drive him off (besides intervention from the gang). I would imagine that having a crazed, sharp-beaked, razor-winged, whip-tailed flyer flapping in his face (threatening his remaining functional sensory organs) would prove a major distraction for Red Claw at least, motivation to turn tail and run at most.

Once the fight break out, what are our rules of engagement? Can we throw some sharp pointy things (like a harpoon) at Red Claw and other sharpteeth? :D

Sounds good to me :lol.  Longtail can certainly deal with Screech if he feels up to it, though ;).

EDIT: I'm still not sure what role the gang could play in the rescue.

The Gang could catch up just before the fight breaks out.  Unable to contain themselves, they jump in to help and blow their cover.  Petrie could drop rocks on the fastbiters.  Ducky, Littlefoot, and Spike could launch rocks with their tails or whtever parts they typically use.  Cera could, well, use her horn :lol.

K.O. Screech

Um, does that mean he's gettin' whacked ?  Whacked as in killed, not whacked as in the more slapstick context, that is.

I like these ideas Pangaea :D

And K.O. simply means knocked out Anna. Screech isn't going to be killed, just simple knocked out.

^Thanks.  I understand that, but I've heard some people use it in a killing context and I wasn't sure :oops.

I've only ever heard K.O. being referred to as knocked out.  Guess it may have a newer term nowadays.

Petrie can do that, and drop twigs also.  To cause distraction if nothing else.

There are various things folks can do during the battle.

It seems like slang comes and goes or the context changes so quickly, it gets hard to keep up with it all :rolleyes.  I've heard KO said as "Keeled Over" or "Killed Off".  I also put two and two together with Pangaea's suggestion that my character "take him out".  Sorry 'bout the confusion, I sometimes put too much thought into things :bang.

Now that I think about it... it would take a great deal of courage... and possibly some stupidity for Longtail to attack Redclaw. Although I would also like for Longtail to meet and interact with Pangaea, and fighting Screech would be a far easier opponent. So I believe I'll have Longtail help free Pangaea.

To add on to my idea, I think that all four of the negotiators should talk to the Fast-Biters, with Chomper being the translator. What ultimately causes the talks to fail is when Chronicler accidentally says something that insults the Fast-Biters (and since Chomper also isn't aware that it was an insult, he translates it so the Fast-Biters know what he said).

As for what I'll do in the fight, here's what I've thought out so far. Chronicler starts off using his bamboo pole as a beating stick against many Fast-Biters, but he quickly realizes it's not enough. He and Ruby then climb up a cliff to take the safety of the high ground. From there, they start trowing rocks at the Fast-Biters. They start small, then use larger rocks. Near the end of the fight, Chronicler decides to push a massive rock off the edge of the cliff, intending to hit Redclaw. Chronicler and Ruby eventually succeed in pushing the massive rock off the cliff, which hits Redclaw in the leg, preventing him standing up for a while.

How do these ideas sound?
