Members Meeting the Characters

I have to admit, I'm a bit uncertain of how the whole thing with your character with the egg-stealers will unfold, since they ARE considered villains in the LBT universe.

Are you planning to get kicked out of the valley with that tactic so we can meet other characters outside the valley? Or do you have a plan in mind that I did not read or entirely missed?

Actually, my character's plan is to persuade the egg stealers to willingly leave the valley, escorted by him, Sparky, Guido, and whoever else wants to come (provided they think they can stand being around Ozzy, Strut, a weirdo, a spazz, and Guido for a few days ). Their destination will be the Big Water, where Pangaea hopes Ozzy and Strut will be satisfied eating the eggs of sea turtles and other seaside reptiles that abandon their nests after laying (and hence do not grieve for lost offspring). Our characters are indeed concerned about being accused of aiding the LBT world's equivalent of criminals, so they will be notifying someone in charge (e.g., the gang's parents/guardians) of what they are doing and where they are going. Mr. Threehorn and Littlefoot will be among the characters who find Pangaea's group in the forest with the "captured" egg stealers; you could have Rebecca get involved, too, if you like.

Also, if it's alright with you Pangaea, I would like to take Hyp. I'm having this new kick with his character, so I'll be more than happy to take him.

No problem! What about Mutt and Nod? Did you want to play them, too, or just have Hyp be apart from them for once?

Mr. Threehorn and Littlefoot will be among the characters who find Pangaea's group in the forest with the "captured" egg stealers; you could have Rebecca get involved, too, if you like.

Right now, I'm thinking of Mama Flyer (Rebecca) to just interact with a few characters before heading back to the nest. She's a mother, she would not want to stay away from her kids for too long.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if there was anyone else wanting to be him, so I thought I would ask. And I'll just be him for now. I'm actually thinking of him joining you, Sparky, and the other characters, so I can interact with different characters at once, and so Hyp can truly express his "daring" side. Hehe.

Guys I'm not aware of what the rules are since I forgot, but I'm going to ask these questions. Are any of the characters allowed to have weapons like swords, knives, or pepper spray for that matter? What about any form of technology like i-pods, tape recorders, cellphones, etc...?

If you brought weapons like knives and all that, you can do so, gameboys and cell phones I'm hesitant with because this is a different universe where those things don't exist and therefore would not have proper connections like satelites, dish networks, etc, so if you were to try to use something like a gameboy, it probably wouldn't work in that universe.

Okay thanks for pointing that out to me I just don't want to break any rules or anything. Yeah your right some of those things wouldn't work since satellites wouldn't be invented until 65 million years later.

Although things with batteries can work though I will say that.

I just wanted to apologize for the holdup with the RP. FlipperBoidSkua told me recently that she was having problems with her computer, and her Internet access is severely limited (Don't worry about it, Sparky; I just hope you can get the problem fixed soon! ). Unfortunately, I had planned my characters' next course of action to be prompted by her dinosona catching up with Pangaea, Ozzy, and Strut, so this kind of holds up the entire "taking egg stealers to Big Water" subplot. I'll see if I can alter my plans to move things along at least a little further, so that once FBS returns, we'll be able to move forward as quickly as possible.

Thanks for letting us know about that.

However, I kind of wish Chronicler's subplot wasn't as stalled as the others, mostly because I had placed a sense of urgency in my latest post (two weeks ago). Frustrating, yes, but I understand there's not much I can do about it. I'll just have to do some more waiting.

I'm back!! My laptop still isn't fixed but it's gotten into a weird habit of working on specific hours of the weekend :huh: . Luckily, my home computer's now free for most of the day and I plan to take full and utter advantage of it!!

Sorry, everyone; I should have posted here sooner.

I've been waiting to give FlipperBoidSkua a chance to respond to my last post before I posted again, and because of my insane obliviousness to the passage of time, I didn't act sooner on any concern that it had been too long.

Chronicler, did you want me to PM vonboy and/or Myrkin (they're the only other players in your group, right?) and ask them if they were still participating in the RP, and if so, if they could please post soon? Or would you rather do it yourself?

Likewise, if there's anyone else who is waiting for another player to post, please speak up. I'm not sure if it's a GM's responsibility to contact RPers and ask them if they're still in the game, but I'm willing to take on that task.

Also, if there are any players who want to do something in the RP, but don't know what, all you have to do is ask, and we'll work something out. For example, Belmont, were you hoping for a chance to interact with someone else's characters? Did you have any ideas for something you wanted to do?

Again I apologize that I'm utterly failing at my job as GM. I'm glad that at least a few people are still posting (though I'm guessing that some players are simply unable to because of my incompetence in keeping things moving in the RP). I really don't want this RP to die, not when there are so many things I and other players still want to do in it.

Yeah, I've been taking a long time to post, but it's because I'm kinda unsure as to how to continue. I kinda want to have Cutter's brothers come in for a little bit, which was why I had Chomper smell some fast biters nearby a few posts back. Then I saw that I didn't put either of them in this thread. Not sure if I was allowed to bring in a character without posting about it here first. (IDK, this RP just seems a bit more rigid and structured than the other big RP I'm in right now.)

After all that, I wondered if I should even post those two in here, because they'd be minor characters that would probably only be seen once in this RP, and I wasn't sure if adding a bunch of your own OC's was frowned upon or not. I've just been hesitant to post, because I kind want to bring them in, but been hesitant to, but also not really wanting to post too much before I lose a good chance to use them.

If anyone can make sense out of that mess of words, that's what I've been going through with this RP.

@Vonboy: Thank you for expressing your concerns. At the moment, there really is no limit to how many characters a player can choose. The only issues are how many you can handle and what you would plan to do with them. You can definitely add them if you want, I would just need to edit your list of characters to play at the first page and you'll be set.

Rat_lady beat me to explaining the rules of how many characters you can play (thanks, Amy, I couldn't have said it better ); I thought I'd add that there's no problem with playing "temporary" characters who disappear after a short time (maybe just as long as they aren't canon LBT characters from the list at the beginning of this thread). I've played several characters like that myself already.

To address your other concernóabout whether you should post here first before bringing in a new characteróI think it never hurts to do so, but whether or not you actually need to depends a little on the character. Personally, I think that a player seeking to RP as a canon LBT character from the cast list should always mention it in the discussion thread ahead of time. While perhaps it's not as crucial for a player to announce that they will be bringing in an OC, it can helpful to other players if they are provided with some background information about the character, especially if said OC has a backstory relating to other characters in the RP, original or otherwise. (For example, when GVG first brought his OC Crusher into the RP, I knew nothing about the characteróhis history with the other OCs he was interacting with, whether he was an antagonist, or even what kind of dinosaur he wasóand had no idea what role he was going to play in the story. GVG's eventual post explaining Crusher was invaluable in clearing things up.) As for minor, "one-shot" OCs like the ones you are thinking of using, Vonboy, I don't think it matters whether you mention them in the thread or not.

A message to everyone: if you ever have any sort of problem or concern that is keeping you from posting in the RP (you’re waiting for someone else to post first, you’re unsure of whether you should/can use a certain idea, etc.), please do post about it in this thread (or PM me about it if you’d rather it remain more private/secret). This is not a demand, but I think it would be an effective way to communicate such issues so that they can be resolved quickly, and the RP kept moving. My reason for proposing this? I was amazed by how many of you posted in the RP and/or explained your reasons for not posting sooner after I voiced my own concerns in this thread; I think it solved a lot of problems, and gave me a lot more confidence that there was still life in this RP (I was really beginning to worry that the thing was on the verge of death).

Hey, Pangaea, how long specifically do you plan on your group being outside of the Great Valley? I've recently been thinking that both your group and mine would return on the same day, even meeting up with each other at some point along the way. What I have in mind is that the two groups would see each other from some distance, mine climbing down an unstable mountainside with yours in a valley between the mountains. Remember that I was thinking of Chronicler injuring his leg by losing his footing and falling down the mountainside? I was thinking that could happen just seconds after the two groups see each other, making them all rush over to join up and return to the Great Valley as one group. How does this idea sound?
