The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

"Do we all know exactly where this hole is & how large it is?" Grandpa Longneck asked.   "It may be a good idea for some flyers to keep watch to help warn us if any sharpteeth or fast biters are coming or nearby." Grandpa Longneck said.

Just then, Anna's group returned to the Rock Circle.

"Hey, guys," Anna said sheepishly.  She was so embarrassed she could not even make eye contact with anyone.

"Is it okay if I help out?  I'm calmed down, and I promise I won't go psycho on anyone.  I'm sorry if I scared or offended anyone."

Amy turned to Anna and saw Cera, Tricia, and Ducky with her.

Amy went up to her and gently said, "Hey, it's okay. You were only defending your friend. And well...all of us can make ourselves useful to manage the spots where the sharpteeth could get in." She smiled, hoping this would lessen Anna's embarrassment.

Then she looked at Cera, Tricia, and Ducky and asked, "Are you three okay?" She particularly looked at Cera and Tricia, whom she knew had a shock from seeing their dad attacking the way he did.
----------------
Mr. Three Horn stopped in his tracks and raised a brow at the feathered glider.

"Why are you here? And why would you care that I had a stone in my foot?" He said in an irritated and gruff voice.

"I am okay, yep yep yep," Ducky chirped.

"So am I, thanks.  I think Tricia will be okay, too," Cera said with a smile before she looked at Tricia.  Tricia simply giggled as she looked at Amy and wagged her tail.  Anna waited for them to finish before she spoke up.

"Thanks for your understanding, Amy," Anna said with a smile.  "I hope you're okay after that 'meeting' we just had."

Unfazed by Mr. Threehorn’s grouchy tone, Pangaea calmly crossed his wings and smiled wryly down at him from his perch on the tree.

“Are you declining my offer of sympathy?” he asked. “I’m guessing there aren’t many dinosaurs around here who even want to come near you right now, after what you did back there. And frankly, I don’t blame them; to assault another individual is very serious.” His expression turned grave as he said this.

“But I’m a forgiving typeóperhaps to a faultóand I think everyone deserves to be treated with a degree of dignity, even if they’ve done wrong. You are injured, after all, and no offense, but I don’t think you can get that thing out of your paw by yourself. You deserve to have that wound treated as much as anyone.”

He shrugged. “Admittedly, I don’t know much about treating injuries, but I figure it’s not going to help any if that rock just stays in there. Now, if I’m not mistaken, there’s some kind of tree star around here that numbs pain. I believe Cera had some put on her ankle when she twisted it in a log-running contest once. If you can help me find and identify some, I can make it less painful for you when I pull out the rock. Whaddaya say?”

(OOC: Rat Lady: Mr. Threehorn is no longer near the Rock Circle at this point, right?)

"Well it was just a thought 'Thomas'" Belmont said "well, when do you guys start anyway" Shorty asked "soon, I think" Belmont replied.

About halfway to the cave, Ruby asked, "Do you really want to work on that rock instead of helping the rest of us fix the hole in the wall?"

Chronicler thought for a second. "You know, I think I might reconsider it. I would certainly like to see what I could do to help patch that hole. I've got quite a talent at problem solving, especially when it comes to making and fixing items and structures. Here's how I do it: when I'm faced with a problem, the first thing I do is consider all the possible solutions I could use, then I decide which solution would be most effective, then I put it to use."

"What kind of solutions would you suggest?"

"Well, first of all, the problem is not patching up that hole, but making sure it doesn't reopen. I'm sure the only method of patching up that hole the people of the Great Valley would use would be to fill it with the rock and debris that was originally part of the wall. I say 'Not enough, that won't do.' Basically, it's just a big pile of rocks, and it would only take a good-sized earthshake to bring it down, reopening the hole."

"Wow, I never thought of that happening."

"Now, for solutions, let's see... We could use some sort of reinforcements. But that would require materials that I seriously doubt we could find or use. I guess we could use a method like masonry and use something to hold the rocks together like how tree sap would cause some small things to stick together... But I don't know how to make the mortar needed for such a task... I guess we'll have to settle for a very crude solution. That would be placing the rocks and boulders in such an arrangement that it would be very difficult for an earthshake to bring it down. It would take a while, but the lack of technology has left me with very limited solutions."

"Wow, I wish I could think like that, think like that I would like to."

"I think you already do. You just use it for different purposes. I apply my problem solving skills to the physical part of the world around us. You apply your problem solving skills to helping other people. I can even say that we both may not good at what the other can do, but maybe if we could work together, we could solve just about any problem the world tries to throw at us."

"The two of us working together? That idea is a very great idea, Chronicler!"

"Thanks, Ruby." Chronicler then noticed they had just arrived at the cave. "I'll just leave this rock here and then we can get going." After placing his rock at the cave entrance, Chronicler asked, "Do you know where that hole in the wall is?"

"No, I don't think they said anything before we left. I guess I should have asked them before I decided to come with you."

"Well, we're Fast-Runners. If we can move fast enough, we can make it back to the rock circle before anyone leaves."

Ruby agreed. She and Chronicler then quickly left, hoping they wouldn't be too late."

"I have a right to collect anything I want. It's just junk anyway."

"perhaps what we need first is to see the problem up close, the hole in this case.  Then we may be more able to come up with possible solutions." Grandpa Longneck said.

"That sounds like a good idea." Mim said, having returned not to long before.

Both Rick and Longtail had heard the commotion over at the rock circle but neither of them were willing to go over there and risk getting in the middle of something bad, but they did indeed listen for quite some time trying to pick out words and phrases. After the sounds of fighting had died down, Longtail suggested looking for some of the others to find out what exactly had happened.

And Rick agreed. "You try to find some of your friends, and I'll look around and see who I can find as well."

Longtail grinned as he flapped his wings and replied, "Sure. Just don't get in Mr.Threehorns way. He's not going to be happy, I can tell you that!"

Spike for his part had been standing close to Ducky during the whole rock circle argument but was busy doing his favorite past time: eating. However now that the group had returned he walked over and gave Ducky a gentle lick across her back and gave a audible groan along the lines of 'Are you okay.'

Grandma Longneck stepped next to her mate and replied, "Seeing the hole in the wall would certainly give us a chance to see how the Red Claw got in, and if we need to we can close it with a rock slide."

(Yeah, Mr. Three Horn is away from the Rock Circle now. :) )

Amy looked to Anna and replied, "Yeah I'm fine...I never would have thought I could actually speak to this crowd like I did though. I'm so bad at spontaneous conversation..." She then turned to hear the others talking about how to fix the hole in the wall.

"I can show you where it is, and maybe I can spot it easier if I stood on your head Mr. Longneck, if that's alright with you." She thought it was an awkward thing to say, but she knew she would get a better view where the hole is. And she couldn't just fly to see it because she didn't know how to.

"Can't you fly?" Someone in the crowd asked, as if reading her mind.

Amy blushed at this and didn't say anything.

Mr. Three Horn snorted and said, "Well if you can get this rock out of my foot, go ahead, then will you leave me alone?" He sighed, not really wanting help from the glider, but if he wanted the glider to leave him alone, he would have to let the glider do what he wanted to do.

Little Foot still didn't get a response from Grandpa Longneck, so he asked again, "Can I help please?????" He said trying to get his grandfather's attention.

Tria had broken off from the group to see to her mate. He was mean, but he didn't deserve that... and that human had a great throwing arm!

"Topsy? Are you okay? Did it... oh my!" Tria exclaimed, observing his wound.

Grandpa Longneck nods to what Grandma Longneck said then moved his head closer to where Amy was.  "Sure you can.  It may help you to see better indeed." He said.

Looked at Littlefoot then the others, "What do you think, should our young ones be allowed to help, since I'm sure many will wish to.  I think it may be ok if some flyers are sure there's no sharpteeth near the area and they can help keep watch also to give us a warning if any sharpteeth or heading in the direction so we will not be surprised."

Pangaea sighed in minor frustration at Mr. Threehorn's unwillingness to be talked to. He had hoped that Mr. Threehorn had given up on trying to exile anyone after being told off yesterday, but at today’s meeting he had not only brought up the topic again, but initiated a debate that had grown so violent that three individuals (including Mr. Threehorn himself) had gotten hurt. He worried that this would only happen again if Mr. Threehorn didn’t get it through his head that he was going to create more problems than he solved if he continued handling things the way he did. Maybe he was insane for even thinking about it, but Pangaea wanted to help.

“Well,” he said, calmly but firmly, “if you don’t want me around right now, I can understand that. But once you cool down, I’m gonna come find you again, because things aren’t going to get any better if you just sulk, and certainly not if what just happened at the meeting, happens again.”

“So, I can either fix your foot now and come bother you again later, or we can get both over with at the same time. Your choice. Personally, I’d suggest the second option. Give me a chance to talk to ya, and you might even find that you feel better. Either way, I don’t know one tree star from another around here, and if you want the painkilling ones to help with your injury, you’re gonna have to point them out to me.”

Ducky turned around and embraced Spike.

"I am okay, Spike, yep yep yep.  Are you okay?" Ducky asked.  Meanwhile, Anna inspected her makeshift bandage.  She had made it very thick, so she hoped she would not have to change it soon.

Amy climbed on top of Grandpa Longneck's head, waiting for him to raise his head up. She held on, because she also had a major phobia of heights.

Wow, this is Amy overcomes all of her fears day.... she sighed softly, embracing herself.

Mr. Three Horn snorted and said to his mate, "Tria, it's alright, this guy...errr Panger...I believe...is going to help me get this stone out."

"Go find a tree star that was just planted anew. And find crawler(spider) web to halt the bleeding." He commanded Pangea. He ignored what Pangea said about "talking".

PAH! Me talk to you? What would you do anyway?

He rested himself down on the grass and said, "Well I'll be waiting."

"Alright Topsy... that stone looks like it did... a lot more damage than you'd think a stone that size could do..." Tria replied.

Her mate was a strong dinosaur. He could take it. Really, he could. "Thomas" on the other hand, was human. A similar injury could cripple or even kill him. He was lucky that revenge was not a way of life in the Great Valley.
