The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

OCC: Er... Did you guys notice that me and Chomper came to your group around campfire?
(OOC: Actually, no. :oops There’s so many characters arriving, and other characters joining up with and/or splitting from other characters that I’m losing track of who’s where. :wacko)

“And, uh, if you heard a scream, sorry, that was me,” Guido told Pterano, “I…kinda burned my tongue on a piece of fish a minute ago. I’m okay now.”

--------------------------------------------------

“Okay…if you’re sure there’s enough…” Pangaea said to Anna after she affirmed that he could share some of her fish. Given that he had eaten recently himself (he had finished the last of the grapes he had earlier collected some time ago), he was a little timid about sharing someone else’s food, knowing he’d feel guilty if he took too much when they needed it more than him.

After making sure that it wasn’t too hot, Pangaea plucked off a small chunk of fish and put it in his mouth. Like Guido, he couldn’t chew it, only move his jaws in an up-and-down motion, but with the soft fish flesh, it didn’t matter much anyway.

“Hmm…” he said, “Pretty good! Wish I had some Cajun seasoning.” He took another small piece.

Suddenly a thought occurred to him. “Hey, Pterano,” he said, turning to the newly arrived flyer. “I was just curious: do you eat fish? Flyers like you, I mean.”

Ruby had led Chronicler to a small pond. "Is this the place?" asked Chronicler as he set down the bamboo pole he was still holding.

"Yes, this is where I usually find snapping shells," replied Ruby as they both walked towards the middle of the pond. "Since we already had sweet bubbles earlier today, I decided that you should try something different so that you know what a Fast Runner can eat."

"Alright, shouldn't be too hard," said Chronicler as he put his hand in the water, trying to find one of these snapping shells. "I mean, these things don't move much anyway."

"You are right about that, but the way you're looking for them is the wrong way to find them. The right way to find them is to use you head instead of your hand. Like this." Ruby then took a breath and stuck her head in the water.

Chronicler also took a breath and stuck his head in the water. The water was surprisingly clear, so he was able to watch Ruby as she looked around. Once she found a snapping shell, she quickly grabbed it in her mouth and puller her head out of the water. Chronicler then pulled his head out of the water and watched as Ruby took the whole thing in her mouth and ate it.

"Wait, you're supposed to eat the whole thing?" asked Chronicler. "Including the shell?"

Once she had finished her first catch, Ruby replied, "Yes. My dad always told me that snapping shells are what makes a Fast Runner able to run so fast."

"Okay, now that I've seen how you did it, I guess that should make it easier for me." Chronicler then took a breath and stuck his head in the water. He looked around until he eventually found one that was a rather moderate size. He then grabbed it in his mouth and quickly pulled his head out of the water. Making sure it was completely in his mouth, he bit down on the snapping shell, which he found to be surprisingly effortless, despite not having any teeth. After a few more bites, he swallowed the whole thing. He then looked at Ruby and noticed that she was watching him, probably to make sure he was doing everything right. "Not bad," commented Chronicler.

Ruby smiled at this. "That is good to hear, Chronicler, good to hear that is," she said. "Now let's get a few more. One snapping shell does not make a whole meal."

"You got that right," commented Chronicler. They both stuck their heads in the water to search for the rest of their dinner.

"I have a right to collect anything I want. It's just junk anyway."

"Hey, Cajun seasoning sounds so good.  I could really use some Cayenne pepper as well," Anna replied to Pangaea's comment about Cajun seasoning.

"Huh?  Kie-anne pepper?  What is that?" Ducky asked.

"Cayenne pepper makes food spicy and it tastes good.  It is believed to have health benefits, and it is used in self-defense sprays made by humans," Anna explained.

"Self-defense what?" Ducky asked, obviously confused.

"Self-defense sprays.  Some folks use 'em to fend off bad guys, and more powerful ones are made for living things that are bigger than humans, like bears," Anna said.

"Bears?  What are bears?" Ducky asked.

"Big, fat, fuzzy sharpteeth with big claws and big teeth," Anna tried to describe in terms Ducky would understand.  Ducky seemed to catch on, for she shivered in fear.

"I am glad we do not have bears here, yep yep yep," Ducky said.

Rocky chuckled as Anna scared Ducky. He decided to add his two cents in too. "I heard bears are very protective of their young. If you cross paths with a mama bear protecting her cubs, don't bother running, you'll just die tired." He said, making a scary face at ducky. He figured Anna might suspect he wasn't a normal dome head.

"One thing scarier than a bear is something called a wolf, fuzzy four legged fast biters. Wolves hunt together and have such good noses they can even smell fear." He said. "He let out a terrible sound, like this..Awwwwwooooooohhhh." Rocky said, cupping his hands to his mouth as he imitated a wolf howl.

(Sorry Myrkin, I was a little distracted. :oops)

Amy turned to see Chomper and Myrkin near them and while she was calm with Chomper around she still was a bit uneasy with Myrkin. She didn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to be afraid, she just was.

She waved a shy hand at them, "Um...hello what brings you two here?" She asked politely.
--------
Pterano had a puzzled expression on his face when the scarlet colored glider asked him this question. "Is that what you call a silver swimmer? I don't think I ever heard that term before...but I'm sure there are others that call it that...and yes thank you for asking, I do in fact love silver swimmers, but if you pardon me asking..." He turned to Anna and asked, "What are you doing to them? They definitely are not filling up the valley, it's an unusual smell to say the least...but what would be the reason for having them burnt?"
--------
Little Foot stayed where was as he watched all of this go on, with the fish, Ducky, Pterano, Pangaea, Guido, everyone was there. He had to admit he was a bit uneasy seeing the silver swimmers burning up, it looked as though his new friends were enjoying it.

Anna found Rocky's wolf howl imitation to be hilarious, along with Ducky's freaked out expression.  Since Rocky had not been a character from the LBT series, Anna had suspected he was a human in disguise.  She did not want to embarrass him in front of the others by asking about his true identity, so she did not say anything.

"That's true about bears and wolves," Anna said before she turned her attention to Pteranos' question.  "This is how humans like myself can safely eat fish without becoming ill.  If we eat 'em raw, fish could be full of parasites and bacteria.  Parasites are scary little predators.  They love to live in your organs and feed off your nutrients."

"Please, guys.  You are scaring me with all of this talk about predators, yep yep yep," Ducky whimpered.

Rocky chuckled. "OK, here's a story you might like." He said as he sat himself down. "It is about a world like this one, but with wonders greater than you or most of your friends could imagine." Rocky explained as he leaned forward. "A world with false caves called buildings, some so tall they touch the white sky puffies. Where even those who are not fliers can fly thanks to things called airplanes and helicopters, but some of those false fliers would scare even red claw, and they can go so fast, no flier can keep up. Where shiny stones are given to the one you love as a way to as to show them how you feel. Where things called submarines can deep under the big water, deeper than any swimming sharptooth." He told ducky. "But there are things that are not so different. Like trees, flowers, and tree sweets, and you and your friend's journey to the valley is a well known story, as are your all your adventures." He finished  as he sat back.

Rocky was aware Pterono was here. he was mistrustful of him, but did not say anything. as he looked around he saw littlefoot was there too. "Hey little foot, I met two long necks, named Bron and shorty, they seemed nice and Bron looked a lot like you." He said to littlefoot.

(OCC: No problem. I guess that my last post was too long to read? :D)

"We're just curious what could smell like that." Chomper answered, pointing out to the campfire and cooked fish (or what was left of it) "How did you make this fire?"

Meanwhile, Claw/Myrkin noticed Amy's uneasiness. He didn't know what could cause it, so he decided to ask her about it:

"Is anything wrong, Amy? You seems to be... anxious."

Amy almost did not hear Myrkin as she broke away from herself, "What? Oh yeah...I'm okay." She smiled trying to prove herself that she was okay, even though she was really uneasy inside.

Then she turned to Chomper and said, "Oh I didn't make it, Anna did." She pointed to her swimmer/human friend.

(Hey Anna are you in your swimmer form or human form at the moment? I'm guessing human, but I could be wrong.)
------------
Pterano's face softened to a pitiful expression when he saw Ducky become frightened.

"Yes I agree, young ones should not have to worry about such things." He nodded and nudged Ducky to try to comfort her.

Then he turned to Anna and commented, "Well, that's...quite interesting way to do that. We flyers usually clean our fish by scraping whatever is on there, but now that I am thinking about it, that makes a lot of sense." He nodded.
----------
Little Foot said "Hi" to Chomper and Myrkin first, but then turned to Rocky and said, "Really? I haven't seen them very much ever since they came...I guess they are just busy getting used to the valley." His lowered a bit in disapointment.

Pangaea almost did a spit take at Anna’s description of bears as “big, fat, fuzzy sharpteeth”. Once he had recovered from laughing, he couldn’t resist adding to the discussion.

“Well, Ducky, if it makes you feel any better, bears and wolves really aren’t that bad compared to the sharpteeth you’re familiar with. For one thing, they’re nowhere near the size of one of those big sharpteeth. A wolf is only about the size of a small fast biter, and a bear, well…it depends on what kind of bear it is, but the biggest ones are only about…”óhe tried to come up with a comparisonó“…maybe half, a third the size of a threehorn? And except for the ones that live in really cold places, bears mostly eat green food, crawlers, tree sweets, and underground plant parts. And splashers, too.” He took another bite of fish. “I mean, they do eat meat occasionally, but even if you did have bears here, they wouldn’t be much of a threat to anyone but the smaller dinosaurs. You wouldn’t want to get one mad, but even the biggest ones couldn’t handle a grown-up threehorn, spiketail, or swimmer. In fact, I’ve heard stories about some of them being chased off by cats; little fuzzy sharpteeth that some humans keep as pets!” He chuckled. “ëCourse, I’m sure Anna could have told you most of what I just said,” he added, in an effort to be modest and not look like a know-it-all.

"Maybe we can find them and ask why they avoid Littlefoot.  Like" Petrie said.  Petrie shooks his tiny fist with a pretend look of anger.  "Why you avoid Littlefoot?" petrie said.

Flapper and Mim arrived separately near where the fish had been cooked and both looked around before deciding if they should continue or not.  [1]

(I'm currently in human form, Amy :yes)

"Well, it's good to let somebody else add to a topic," Anna said, hoping Pangaea would not feel like a know-it-all.  She then brought her attention to Amy's comment.

"Yeah, I started this fire but I took a short cut.  After I built up a pile of sticks and wood, I stuck the end of a stick into this lava pit over here and caught the end on fire," Anna explained.

"Little, fuzzy sharpteeth as pets?  Whatever pets are, that sounds weird, yep yep yep," Ducky spoke up.

“Oh, right,” Pangaea said, realizing he had just used a term the LBT dinosaurs weren’t familiar with. “Well, uh, a pet is basically an animal that humans keep for companionship, or just to have around because they like that particular kind of animal, even if it doesn’t really show any kind of friendship. Some humans, for instance, keep splashersóusually little colorful onesóin see-through containers filled with water, so they can watch them swim around. A lot of humans like watching splashers because it’s relaxing, just like petting a cat is relaxing.” He demonstratively stroked Guido’s head feathers.

“Hey!” Guido squawked in surprise, fumbling and almost dropping the piece of fish he was holding, “Cut that out!”

“Sorry,” Pangaea said, flashing a wiseguyish grin and suppressing his laughter.

After he had left, Belmont had returned to the area where he saw the group of dinosaurs, he spotted them sitting around a campfire, Belmont decided to join them. "hello again" he said as he walked by them and leaned up against a tree.

Red Claw kept to himself as he heard Screech and Thud walk away to search for the Great Valley entrance. He did however hate that he couldn't find it himself, but he knew that having two pairs of eyes would work splendidly to find the private entrance.

GAH! Once they find that entrance and once that wretched flyer comes out here....she will be suffering the most horrid death she would ever face...
--------------
During the talk between Anna, Rocky, Little Foot, Pangaea, Ducky and Guido; Amy saw that Pterano was among them, so she looked down at her feet and slowly walked toward him.

"Um...excuse me...Pterano?" She softly asked feeling nervous. "I wanted to ask you something please..." Pterano turned to Amy and smiled. He looked toward everyone else and announced, "Excuse me everyone, I need with this young lady for a moment." He and Amy walked away where they could be alone and Amy turned scarlet red as she went next to Pterano.

"What did you want to speak to me about?"

Amy started a bit soft, but thankfully, Pterano had very sharp hearing, so Amy did not have to raise her voice very much.

"Well...if you don't know already I don't really know how to fly..."

Pterano nodded to let Amy know he was hearing her and that he knew she didn't know how to fly.

"Well...I was just wondering...if you had time...you could teach me how to fly."

(Just bumping this to let people know that the rp is NOT dead)

Mr. Three Horn went with Cera to find her friends, on the way, he asked to her to make a bit of conversation with his daughter, "Cera, what do you think of these new comers, and I mean besides Anna."
---------
Pterano was a bit shocked at Amy's request, considering how humble she seemed to be at her age to ask HIM for his teachings on something. He in fact quite had this ego boosted very fast and furious as this request was brought up.

"Why-absolutely, I would be happy to teach you!" He exclaimed and smiled, exhilarated. He finally for a moment was trusted to do something.

Amy was a bit surprised by Pterano's exclaimation, but later on she would figure she made him feel good about himself by feeling of use in this valley.

"That-that's great, thank you, um...when should we start?" She asked briskly.

"Well, maybe starting tomorrow morning we can get something done, since it's much harder to fly at night for most flyers." He nodded hoping it would be okay for Amy's schedule.

"That sounds fine with me..." Amy stalled for a bit looking on the ground, she wanted to say something, but was hesitant to say so.

"...Is something the matter? If that time doesn't work, it's okay we can try another time." Pterano stated carefully, noticing the cue that Amy was hesitant.

Amy looked at him and shook her head, "No-no it's not that, it's fine...I just...am...scared to be honest." She chuckled nervously looking at her feet.

Pterano then had his puzzled expression to a soft and understanding one.

"I see...it's fine, all beginners need to start slow, so don't you worry about that. I'm not going to tell you to fly from a high mountain to another yet." He smirked, hoping Amy may laugh. However, the siamese colored flyer did nothing but look the other way, looking embarrassed and unsure.
----------------
Little Foot chuckled at Petrie's comment, appriciating that Petrie was trying to be funny and make him laugh. Then he noticed Belmont and said, "Oh hi, um...how are you doing?" He asked to be polite.

Petrie waved to Belmont.  "You come here to eat or get drink?" Petrie asked him.

------

"Guessed you smelled the same thing I did." Flapper said seeing Mim had arrived not far from where he was.  He left out the term cooking fish since he doubted from the movies and episodes he had seen that they would understand what cooking was and he assumed they'd call fish something else.

"I would assume we indeed did." Mim said to Flapper.  [1]

(OOC: Hey, what time of day is it?  Just curious :).)

"Well, they seem weird because they are newcomers and we don't know much about them, but so far none of them have tried to eat any of us, so they're okay I guess," Cera replied to her father.

(OOC: CT: I believe Rat_lady confirmed earlier that it is late afternoon, nearing sunset.)

As Pangaea waited to see if Ducky would respond to his explanation of pets, Guido, having smoothed out his tousled head feathers, asked him, “Uh, say, i was going to ask before, but I had a mouthful of fish; how do you know so much, anyway? Like all that stuff about…uh…bears you were just talking about?”

“Uhh…it’s hard to explain,” Pangaea said, not knowing how he would describe books, documentaries, zoos, museums, and the Internet to Guido. “Basically, I’m really interested in animals and nature, so I’ve spent a lot of time trying to learn more about them.”

Ducky could not help but giggle at Guido's reaction to Pangaea's demonstration.

"Oh, I think I get it now, yep yep yep.  So, do humans consider other living things to be like family members?" Ducky asked.

"Many do, myself included.  Also, we end up treatin' our pets like they're children.  Many humans spoil their pets 'cuz they love 'em so much," Anna spoke up in hopes of answering Ducky's question.

"That is nice, yep yep yep.  Humans take in other living things like Mama took in Spike," Ducky said.

"I guess ya can say that, though I always thought you're the one who initially took Spike in as a brother," Anna chuckled.

"I did, yep yep yep," Ducky giggled in response.
