The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

The trio had sat at the edge of the Thundering Falls for several hours and simply talked about many things, what food they liked to eat, how far they could jump, and several other topics that resulted in raised voices and one awkward silence. After a short pause, Rick looked up at that sky and yawned.

Longtail smiled and replied, "Well it is getting pretty late, I should be heading back to meet my uncle Cyrix. He gets upset if I'm not at the nest before the night circle is in the sky."

Spike who had been eating a nearby bush smiled as he swallowed his mouthful of food and looked at the sky as well, giving a loud yawn.

Rick smiled as he stood up and stretched. "Yep, time for sleep. Although I tend to stay awake most nights."

Longtail looked confused as he asked, "But why? Don't you humans need sleep?"

Rick grinned as he replied, "Yes our kind do need sleep...  but some of us can stay awake for a bright circle or two if we really need to."

Spike gave a short laugh as he turned and began to head back towards his nest intent on seeing his sister Ducky and their mother.

When Chronicler grabbed another snapping shell, he decided to eat it a different way. He put it on a nearby boulder and grabbed a rock from under the shallow water.

"What are you doing, Chronicler?" asked Ruby.

"Humans can't eat the shells, but they can eat the meat inside. I just want to see if there's a way to get to that meat without having to be a Fast-Runner, like us," replied Chronicler. He started by using the small rock to try to pry open the shell, but he couldn't get it wedged in a good enough spot. Many times, the rock simply slipped off the crack and never got into it. After about a minute, he got very frustrated. "Fine, we'll do this caveman style!" He then started slamming the rock against the shell. Eventually, he succeeded in breaking the shell. Unfortunately, he also smooshed the meat inside, rendering it inedible. Chronicler sighed. "So much for that effort."

"At least you now know what not to do, so would will not do it again next time," said Ruby.

"Yeah, you're right. My dad always told me that failure is the best teacher you could ever have." Chronicler then picked up the smashed snapping shell and tossed it behind his back. However, he failed to notice someone was behind him, and the smashed snapping shell hit that person in the back.

(OOC: Yeah, that's right Pangaea. :yes)

Mr. Three Horn nodded back and said, "Hm, I suppose so..." He thought over this and realized how much her daughter was in tune. So he said, "Cera, I just want to say I am proud of you. You have grown up so much and you have been a wonderful sister to Tricia, you have a good head on your shoulders, that's good." He nodded approvingly.

Meanwhile, a lot had changed between Zaine and Rob. For starters, Rob had turned into a longneck, the same size as Zaine except white. Rob was amazed he was even capable of becoming a longneck, but for some reason he wasn't worried at all. If he was going to stay in the Great Valley, he figured it would have to be as a dinosaur. It did take him some time to get used to having four feet, and he still wasn't entirely used to it, but he could at least walk around.

Zaine had learned to trust Rob, despite their rocky meeting. He understood why Rob chose Zaine's life to be the way it was and didn't blame him for the loss of his family. The two became great friends, almost brothers, and told each other many things about each other's world. Zaine couldn't really understand most of the things Rob told him, but at that point he didn't really care. Just the fact he was talking to a new creature was extraordinary. The two were approaching the Thundering Falls as they continued to talk. Rob was in the middle of trying to tell Zaine why the chicken crossed the road, but he wasn't getting very far.

"I still don't understand it," Zaine complained. "Why would it cross the road in the first place?"

"Well that's the joke," Rob explained. "You could put anything there and it would be a joke, albeit not a really good one."

"You humans have the strangest "jokes". I don't get how you come up with them," Zaine replied. Rob laughed.

"Well not all of them are very good."

"Thanks, Daddy.  It means a lot for me to hear that," Cera replied to her father.

----------------------

Meanwhile, the campfire Anna had started earlier was now just a few lowing embers.  As everybody else continued to converse, Ducky suddenly let out a yawn.

"I am quite sleepy.  I am, Iam," Ducky yawned.  This caused Anna to look up at the sky.

"Well, it looks like its almost bedtime for little ones.  I'm sure your folks will be callin' anytime soon," Anna replied.

(Just curious CT, are you and your characters at the Thundering Falls, or are you guys elsewhere?)

Mr. Three Horn smiled back in response and then looked toward the Thundering Falls to see if they if anyone was there.
----------
Tria looked toward her youngest daughter and smiled.

"How are you today my sweet girl?" She asked her motherly tone.
---------
Rebecca (Petrie's Mom) felt the bouncing of something hard and jumped from where she perched.

"Ow! What in sweet treats was that?" She turned around and saw the two fast runners and suddenly emereged to see what was happening.

"Oh, hello, you must be one of the newcomers." She smiled as she saw the white fast runner.

Longtail turned around to go towards his uncle Cyrix's cave, and smiled as he saw a familiar face. "Well Zaine... it's about time you showed up again! I was starting to get worried about you." he said with a mild laugh.

Rick grinned at Rob and stood up stretching his limbs. "Wow... forgot that sitting in one spot can really make your arms and legs stiff."  he commented with a humorous tone.

Chronicler looked back and saw Petrie's mom. "Did I hit you? Sorry, my bad, I didn't see you there," said Chronicler.

"Hello, Mrs. Flyer, Mrs. Flyer hello," greeted Ruby. "I was just helping my new friend get some food because is isn't used to getting food like we do."

Zaine laughed. "I'm glad you have such little faith in my ability to take care of myself," he replied with a bit of light sarcasm. "Actually, I was helping Rob get situated with his new longneck form. He turned a little bit ago, and I've been helping him out."

Rob nodded. "I would have been in so much trouble had Zaine not been here to teach me." He looked over to Rick. "It feels really strange only having legs and no arms in this form. I actually kind of like it, but at the same time I keep tripping myself up."

(OOC: For those who haven’t heard, I’m picking up three of Amy’s characters: Red Claw, Petrie’s mother Rebecca, andófor a short timeóPterano.)

“Don’t worry about it,” Rebecca told Chronicler as she rubbed the spot on her back where the shell had hit.

“Hello, Ruby,” she said when Ruby greeted her. “I don’t believe I’ve met your friend.” She turned to Chronicler with a smile. “I’m Rebecca, but you can call me Mrs. Flyer if you’d prefer.”

"Well, nice to meet you too, Mrs. Flyer," said Chronicler. "Everyone here calls me Chronicler, so I guess you can call me that."

"He's been telling me some interesting stories today, and the stories he's told me so far are very interesting," said Ruby.

"Do you really need to tell everyone about everything?" mumbled Chronicler.

Littlefoot continued to observe the conversations that were going on around him. He was as always amazed by the newcomers' knowledge of their world as well as this new human world he was just learning about. Normally he would have learned about something like this from his Grandpa, but not even he knew about it. The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to learn about it. Then something popped in his mind, and he meant to think about but he accidentally spoke it out loud. "I wonder what it would be like if we went to this human world."

"If there no sharpteeth there it not so scary place." Petrie said hearing what Littlefoot had said.

----

Mim and Flapper just listened to the conversations, not saying at the moment.  Mim wondering what they had done with the fish and Flapper guessing someone got hungry for more then just the usual stuff most of the residents of the Great Valley ate.

Rick smiled at Rob's reaction to having four feet as he replied, "I know the feeling. Actually, that's half the reason I took a nap just so I wouldn't have to worry so much."

Longtail grinned.
"As long as you're making a new friend, that is all that matters." He then gave a short yawn as he leaned against a tree.

Spike laughed at Longtail as he took another bite of a nearby shrub, eating to keep himself awake.

Anna, who was extinguishing the remains of her campfire, chuckled when she heard Littlefoot's comment about visiting the human world.

"Well, Littlefoot, I think you'd be overwhelmed but fascinated by what's in the human world.  There's so much more to our world than even your wildest dreams and imagination can come up with," Anna replied to the young longneck's comment.  She then heard Petrie mention about sharpteeth.

"We've got sharpteeth in our world, but they're much smaller than the sharpteeth here," she added.  Ducky then let out another yawn before she curled up closely to where the campfire had been.

"I am sleepy.  I am, I am," Ducky whispered.  Just then, Ducky's mother called for her children.

"Ducky!  Spike!  Time for bed!" Mama Swimmer's voice called.

"I do not think I can walk all the way home.  I am so sleepy, yep yep yep," Ducky yawned.  Anna giggled before she gently scooped the little swimmer up.  Because Anna was still in her human form, Ducky was big enough that Anna had to carry her like a human toddler.

"A'ight, little one.  Lead the way," Anna said.  Ducky then told Anna which way to go while struggling to stay awake.

"Me no notice it late." Petrie said looking up and around at the sky.  It had gotten late before he had known it.

"Well, time sure flies when you're talkin' the evening away.  'Night, everyone," Anna chuckled before she headed in the direction Ducky had pointed her in.  It took a few minutes and several reminders for Ducky to stay awake and give directions before Anna finally reached Ducky's home.  Not wanting to sneak up on and possibly surprise Mama Swimmer, Anna spoke up while she still walked through some trees.

"Hello?  Is anybody home?" Anna called, loud enough to ensure Mama Swimmer knew somebody was coming.  Having learned before that Ducky's species had excellent hearing, Anna did not have to speak too loudly.

"Who is it?" Mama Swimmer's voice asked compassionately.

"I'm a friend, so no worries, and I have your daughter with me," Anna replied before she slowly stepped into the nesting area.

"I am here, yes I am," Ducky added with a giggle.  Ducky's mother kept looking at Anna in a curious manner, as did Ducky's siblings who shyly hid behind their mother.

"Well, I believe we haven't met.  Are you a newcomer?" Mama Swimmer asked in a friendly manner.

"Pretty much, and Ducky has been kind enough to show me around," Anna replied with a smile.

"Guys, this is Anna.  She is a human, but she can also turn into a swimmer like us, yep yep yep," Ducky chirped.  Ducky's siblings remained quiet for a couple of moments before hey began to tease their sister for coming up with such wild stories.  Ducky was not pleased by this.

"But it is true, yep yep yep!  I have seen her do it, and she can show you too, yes she can!" Ducky piped up in a defensive manner.  Meanwhile, Anna could feel herself blushing for being made the center of attention.  However, she knew how much it hurt to be teased and was not about to allow Ducky to go through it.  Within moments, Anna morphed back into her swimmer form.  This caused Ducky's siblings to shut up and scream in fear as they ran behind their mother again.  Mama Swimmer, though surprised, was actually quite amazed by what she saw happen before her.  Ducky now looked rather tiny in comparison to Anna.

"See?  I was telling the truth, yep yep yep," Ducky said.

"Indeed you were," Mama Swimmer agreed, feeling embarrassed that she had thought Anna was an imaginary friend Ducky had come up with.  Anna could sense her uneasy feelings.

"Well, I'm glad I finally got to meet y'all.  I was just passin' through helpin' Ducky get home, but now I really should be on my way.  Little ones need their sleep, after all," Anna said before she gently set Ducky down and started to head out.  "'Night, and it was nice to meet y'all."

"Wait, Anna," Mama Swimmer gently spoke up as she stepped over to her.  "Are you here by yourself, or is your family here, too?"

"Myself, though some of my friends have made it here, too," Anna replied.  Mama Swimmer felt her maternal instinct begin to settle in.

"Well, why don't you stay for the night?  It's awfully dangerous out there for kids to be out on their own," Mama Swimmer said.

"With all due respect, m'am, I'm actually an adult.  Just small in size," Anna said gently.

"Oh, my!  I'm so sorry, Anna.  I've never seen your kind before, so I could not tell if you were a kid or not.  Regardless, you're more than welcome to stay with us, if you're not mad at me for undermining you," Mama Swimmer said.

"Don't worry 'bout it, m'am.  I'm not offended," Anna replied with a smile.

"Thanks Anna.  As for staying here, I think you're stuck," Mama Swimmer chuckled as she gestured toward the ground in front of Anna.  Anna glanced down, and saw none other than Ducky curl up on her left foot.

"I guess.  Okay, I'll stay.  I really appreciate your hospitality," Anna giggled as she picked Ducky up, who was sleeping by that point.  As soon as she gently set Ducky down with her siblings and told the family good night, Anna found a spot nearby where she curled up and began to fall asleep.  It was when she was almost alseep that Anna felt a small form curl up against her right side.  She opened her right eye and could not help but smile when she glanced back and saw it was Ducky who had done that.  Anna then movd her tail in so Ducky would be kept warm before she fell asleep for good.

"Littlefoot." Grandpa Longneck called out as he walked around near some areas that Littlefoot and his friends liked to play around since he saw it was time for youngsters to go to their nesting areas and go to bed.

---

"Me think maybe me should go to family nest soon." Petrie said.
