The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

"Psst,Belmont" ,Belmont woke up and slowly rose to find that the one who had spoke was Ms.Maia.

"shouldn't you be tending to your nest at this hour" Belmont asked

"I was just wondering where you had run off to"

"Well, you've certainly stumbled upon the right place"

"Not stumbled,I was sure you would be here, John"

"You know my name,fancy that"

"I had a sleep-story, you were there and so were many others like you, I can't remember what happened though, prehaps it would be best if we discussed it at my nest"

John then climbed out of the underground cave,

"lead the way,m'lady" he said politely.

Ozzy and Strut were so overcome with amusement that for a moment Pangaea wondered if he would have time to run off and warn the valleyers of their intrusion, and return with reinforcements while the egg stealers were still incapacitated by mirth. Unfortunately for that idea, the pair already seemed to be recovering, enough so that they were able to take breaths between bursts of laughter.

“Oh!” Strut hooted, “I haven’t laughed this hard since Ozzyó”

I’m laughing so hard, I won’t be able to hit you if you finish that sentence!” Ozzy interrupted.

“Seriously, you guys!” Pangaea snarled, trying his best not to succumb to the contagion of Ozzy and Strut’s humor, “I’m not joking here! I told you I was a dromaeosaurid; that’s the fast biter family! Therefore, I’m a fast biter!”

“Fast biter, my tail!” Ozzy cackled as he staggered to his feet. “Whatever you are, you are definitely not a fast biter! Have you ever looked in the watering hole? You look nothing like a fast biter!”

Strut had also recovered enough from his paroxysm of hilarity to stand. “Yeah!” he guffawed, “You look nothing like them!” He pointed.

Ozzy suddenly stopped laughing. “Them?” he said. “Who’só” He turned his head in the direction Strut was pointing, and his expression, which had just changed from one of amusement to surprise and confusion, now turned to terror.

Two sharpteeth were charging down the hillside, bearing down on Pangaea and the two egg stealers. And worse, Pangaea recognized them. It was Screech and Thud.

Ozzy and Strut screamed in unison as Pangaea cried out, “Oh no! Not them again!”

Petrie decided it was time to fly to his mom's nest for the night.  "Me see you guys tomorrow." He said, waving before he flew off in the direction of his mother's nest.

As Ruby and Chronicler arrived at their cave, Ruby asked, "I don't think it's quite late enough for us to go to sleep just yet, so what do you want to do until it is late enough for us to go to sleep?"

"I could tell you the next part of the Bionicle storyline. I think the end of that part will be a good stopping point for a while, since we're going to be busy traveling, starting tomorrow."

"That is a great idea, Chronicler. A great idea that is."

Chronicler had left off at the end on the 2002 storyline, so he told her everything that happened in the 2003 storyline. He described how the Bohrok-Kal, an elite squad of Bohrok, managed to steal the powers of the Toa Nuva and tried to use them to free the Bahrang. Once the Bohrok-Kal were defeated, a time of peace came to the Matoran. He then described how Takua found the Mask of Light and started a search for the seventh Toa. Makuta's minions, the Rahkshi, were sent out to stop Takua. He then described how the seventh Toa was found and later defeated Makuta, which lead to the rediscovery of the original home of the Matoran: the island city of Metru Nui.

Without wasting another second, Pangaea turned and bolted. “RUN!” he shouted to the egg stealers.

Ozzy and Strut didn’t need to be told twice. They immediately turned to run as well…unfortunately, they ran into each other. Frantically they picked themselves up (Ozzy cursing Strut as he did so) and fled from the oncoming fast biters. However, their pratfall had cost them valuable time, and now Screech and Thud were just a few yards behind them. The proximity of the slavering predators elicited further panicked yelps from the two egg stealers.

“Eat him! He’s tastier!” Strut cried, pointing at Ozzy.

Apparently, even when he was running for his life, Ozzy could still find time to slap Strut. “Shut up!” he hollered. “Just run, bark-biter!”

Had Pangaea been watching this scene as a LBT film, he probably would have laughed at the egg stealers’ comedic exchange. But actually being there with them, running from the fast biters, put things in a completely different perspective. Pangaea had no guarantee that he, Ozzy, and/or Strut would survive this, and for this reason he was too utterly terrified to focus on anything except getting away from Screech and Thud as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, things weren’t looking good for him. He was the slowest runner in this chase, and even though he had a head start on the egg stealers, he had a feeling that the fast biters weren’t primarily after them. There was no way he would be able to pull off his eye-poking trick; not on both fast biters when they were charging downhill after him like this. Worse, there were no trees around for Pangaea to climb, and not enough wind for him to take to the air from a simple running start. He needed an altitude boost of some kind.

Frantically surveying the terrain ahead of him, Pangaea spotted a large, flat boulder that jutted from the hillside at a slight upward slant. He figured he could use it as a ramp to get airborne. He quickly adjusted his course in order to hit it head-on from a straight running start, knowing that that would give him his best chance for a successful takeoff.

I wish he’d tell me before he runs off like this, Guido thought as he pushed aside some ferns. He had gone looking for Pangaea after noticing that he was gone, and while not an especially good tracker, he had determined that his friend had been headed for the northern border of the Great Wall. Guido had just reached the edge of the treeline below the slopes that led up to the base of the Wall.

“Aw, great,” Guido groaned, seeing the climb ahead of him, “I hate walking uphill.” He cupped his hands to his mouth. “Hey, Pangaea, are you up there?!” he shouted.

Guido didn’t get a response, but just then he heard what sounded like panicked screaming in the distance.

“Pangaea, is that you?” he called. Truthfully, it didn’t sound like Pangaea, but Guido decided that he’d better investigate. Fortunately for him, the voices seemed to be coming from his left rather than ahead of thim, so he didn’t have to do any climbing; he just had to walk along the base of the hills. He hurried in the direction of the continuing cries, hoping that whoever was yelling wasn’t in trouble.

Unfortunately, when Guido looked around a boulder and discovered the source of the screaming, he saw that there was trouble. Two egg stealers were racing down the slope, a pair of all-too-familiar-looking fast biters hot on their heels. Worse, he saw an unmistakable small red shape not far ahead: Pangaea!

Guido shrieked in alarm and, without thinking, ran to intercept the chase. He could see that the egg stealersóand the fast biters, who were readily keeping pace with themówere rapidly gaining on Pangaea. The red glider appeared to be heading towards a large, uptilted rock sticking out of the side of the hill. Guido guessed that Pangaea was going to use it to make a leap into the air in order to glide away.

“Run, Pangaea! Run!” Guido screeched madly. “Go for that rock! Jump! Glide! Hurry!”

--------------------------------------------------

The moment he realized that his quarry was heading towards the rock, Screech had known what he was planning to do. “Not this time!” he roared, his rage and determination stimulating a burst of adrenaline that allowed him to pick up even more speed.

If only these idiot egg stealers would get out of the way! Screech thought angrily, snapping his teeth at the tail of the one in front of him. This elicited a terrified yelp from the egg stealer, and, fortuitously for Screech, apparently motivated him to both speed up and dodge to the side. Screech grinned at his luck and set his sights back on the glider, who by now had almost reached the rock.

--------------------------------------------------

Pangaea thought he heard Guido yelling off to his side some distance away, but couldn’t risk taking his eyes off the path ahead of him to turn his head and look. He had to time his leap perfectly for the best possible chance of escape. As he reached the rock, he flicked his wings open to catch the air. As his foot hit what he guessed to be the edge of the rock, he sprung into a leap, spreading out his leg feathers for maximum lift.

--------------------------------------------------

Screech’s fury flared up again as he saw the glider rise into the air. “OH NO YOU DON’T!” he screamed. Upon reaching the rock himself, he too took a flying leap into the air, stretching his arms out as far as he could…and wrapping his clawed hands around the glider’s wings.

Screech must have flown through the air at least twenty feet before he hit the ground, clutching the glider in his claws.

I’ve caught it!” he exclaimed gleefully. “Thud, do you hear me?! I’ve caught the red glider!

Thud ground to a stop, the panicked egg stealers disappearing into the forest ahead of him. “You did? That’s what we came here to do, right?

Yes,” Screech said, grinning with all of his teeth.

So what do we do now?” asked Thud.

We report back to Red Claw. Then we wait for the leafeaters to come looking for the glider. Now let’s go.

--------------------------------------------------

Guido just about went catatonic with horror when he saw Pangaea being seized by the blue fast biter. He probably would have remained frozen in place if one of the egg stealers, running in his direction, hadn’t struck him with its foot. The next thing he knew, Guido was clinging to the front of the egg stealer’s long, brown-banded ankle as it sprinted through the forest. Peering around the side of the leg, he saw the fast biters in the distance turning to leave, one clutching a still-moving Pangaea.

A moment later the full shock of Pangaea’s capture returned, and Guido lost his hold on the egg stealer’s ankle.

It took Guido a moment to recover from the daze he found himself in after tumbling several feet across the forest floor. Once he did, however, the first thing he did was let out a long, piercing scream, and get up and run in a random direction in a state of utter panic.

--------------------------------------------------

Pangaea struggled desperately in the fast biter’s grasp. He couldn’t flap his wings or use his hands; they were pinned to his body, and try as he might, he couldn’t stretch his legs far enough to claw or push against his captor’s hold with his feet. Craning his neck, he tried biting down on one of the scaly hands that held him, but felt their grip tighten and the claws press into his skin, and hastily let go. He even tried reaching back with his tail to tickle the fast biter’s belly, but to no avail.

Realizing that his efforts to escape weren’t getting him anywhere, Pangaea stopped moving, paralyzed with terror and shock. Oh my gosh…they got me, he thought in disbelief. They got me. This is it. This is it for me. This is the end. This is it…

“Hey!” Strut said as he looked over his shoulder, “I think they’ve stopped chasing us!”

“Well, I’m going to keep running until I know they’re not chasing us!” Ozzy, who was running in front, replied.

Just then, the two egg stealers burst into a clearing…and right into a nest of threehorns, including a big, scary-looking gray one with huge horns that was directly in their path.

“YAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!”

Ozzy succeeded in skidding to a halt before colliding with the huge threehorn. But Strut was moving so fast that he collided with Ozzy, sending both egg stealers flying through the air, over the threehorn, and into the bushes behind him with a chorus of pained exclamations.

--------------------------------------------------

“Hm?” Mr. Threehorn grunted, waking up. He thought he’d heard something. Raising his head groggily, he looked around, but saw nothing.

Probably just a night runner, he thought, settling down to go back to sleep.

But a moment later, he heard another sound: a long, frantic-sounding scream.

“Now who’s making that racket?” he grumbled under his breath. This time, he stood up and went to investigate the sound.

--------------------------------------------------

Back at her nest, Rebecca had just finished putting her children to bed, save for Petrie, who hadn’t yet come home. She had been about to go out looking for him when she heard the scream as well. She recognized it immediately.

“Guido?” she said.

Knowing that something must be wrong, Rebecca took to the air, flying in the direction of the scream.

It didn’t take long for Rebecca to find Guido, running through the woods in a blind panic, continually screaming.

“Guido? Guido!” she called down. As Guido entered a clearing, she landed on the ground in front of him. “Guido, stop! What’s wrong?”

Guido almost ran into her. He was shaking like a treestar in a windstorm and his eyes looked like he had just seen the world’s scariest sharptooth. “GREAT WALL BITE FASTERS THEECH SCRUD CHASE EGG STEALERS CATCH PANGY…” he babbled, faster than Rebecca could understand.

“Guido! Guido, settle down!” Rebecca said, trying to calm the hysterical glider. “Now, slow down and tell me what happened.”

“I–I–I–I–I saw Pangaea by the Great Wall…he was with some egg stealers…th–they were running from fast biters…it was…it was those Screech and Thud guys! Th–th–they caught him! They caught Pangaea!”

Rebecca’s eyes went wide with horror. “What?!” she gasped. “Is heó?”

“N–n–n–no,” Guido said, knowing what she was going to ask. “They didn’t eat him…Th–they were just sorta…holding onto him.”

“Well, thank goodness,” Rebecca said, clutching a hand to her chest. “There’s a chance he might still be alive.”

“Who might still be alive?” a gruff voice interjected.

Rebecca and Guido looked to see Mr. Threehorn standing nearby.

“One of the newcomers has been captured by Red Claw’s fast biters,” Rebecca explained.

“WHAAAT?!” Mr. Threehorn bellowed. “Which one?!”

“Pangaea,” Rebecca said, “the red glider. The one who looks likeó”

“Yes, I know who he is,” Mr. Threehorn interrupted. “And you’re certain he’s still alive?”

“Well…uhh…” Guido stammered, “I–I–I think so. Last I sawó”

“Then we’ve no time to lose. We must organize a rescue party immediately.”

Throwing his head back, Mr. Threehorn let out a long, deep, loud roar. It was a special call that the Great Valley dinosaurs used to summon one another in an emergency. It should bring anyone within earshot rushing to their location.

Secretly impressed that Mr. Threehorn had come to a decision so quickly, and moreover one that she agreed with, Rebecca took to the air and gave her version of the alarm call, a long, piercing screech. She continued to utter the call as she circled overhead, to indicate where the emergency meeting would take place.

"Did you hear that,it sounded like Mr. Threehorn" Ms.Maia explained,John nodded  "he didn't sound happy, but I might as well go and see what he's going on about" he insisted, "be careful,he dosen't always take newcomers lightly".

"I know" John said before he began walking in the direction in which he heard Mr.Threehorn's roar.

Petrie was returning home and heard the scream.  He changed his flight to fly in the direction of the scream to see what was going on.   He was scared but decided he would be more scared not knowing and if he stayed in the air he should be safe.

Mim was heading towards her usual sleeping to rest, but not go to sleep yet.  Though hearing Mr. Threehorn's call she changed and started to head to where the sound of the call had come from.

Cera was awakened by her father's emergnecy call.

"Ugh, what's going on now?" she groaned in a sleepy manner before she recognized the nature of her father's calling.  She turned to Tricia and gently nudged her awake.

"C'mon, Tricia," Cera said as she stood up and then scooped her baby sister up with her nasal horn and carried her.  Tricia glanced around in a curious manner as Cera made her way for their father.

-------------------------------

Meanwhile, over at Ducky's nest, Mrs. Swimmer was the first to wake up.  Upon recognizing Mr. Threehorn's call, she turned to wake all of Ducky's siblings up.

"Wake up, kids.  Something's not right," Mrs. Swimmer said as she gently shook her children awake.  Ducky was awakened by the sound of her mother's voice.

"What is going on, Mama?" Ducky yawned as she sat up.

"Mr. Threehorn is calling for an emergency meeting," Mrs. Swimmer replied.  Ducky then turned her attention to Anna, who was still sleeping soundly.

"Anna, wake up.  There is an emergency, yep yep yep," Ducky called as she tapped Anna on her right arm.

"Ow, my poor arm," Anna said as she woke up, realizing she had slept on the arm she had injured in her fiasco with Mr. Threehorn.  "What's wrong, Ducky?"

"We need to meet Mr. Threehorn, yep yep yep.  There is an emergency.  There is, there is," Ducky replied as Anna slowly stood up.  Once everybody was up and awake, the group headed out for the meeting.

Littlefoot shot up during Mr. Threehorn's call. "What's going on?" He looked around left and right, but there were no sharpteeth around. Something else must have been wrong. "Grandma, Grandpa, what's Mr. Threehorn screaming about?"

Rob and Zaine were both awake and looked nervously at each other. "This can't be good," Rob noted.

"With Mr. Threehorn, there's always something wrong," Zaine pointed out.

"Yeah, but this seems different," Rob thought. "Something really doesn't seem right here. We should check it out."

"I agree." Zaine looked over to Rick and Longtail. "We're going to meet up with Mr. Threehorn. You guys should come too."

"I wonder what's goin' on?" Anna asked in a curious manner as her group continued to walk.

"I have no idea what's going on, either.  I guess we'll find out from Mr. Threehorn himself," Mrs. Swimmer replied before she looked down in the direction of her children.  When she realized they were not with her, she nearly panicked but thought to look behind her and Anna.  Surely enough, Ducky was trying to get her siblings to keep up with the two.

"Oh, my goodness!  I'm so sorry, little ones.  Anna, I think we need to slow down for the children," Mrs. Swimmer said.

"We could, but it'll be dawn before we even get there if we walk at their speed.  Here, I've got an idea," Anna said before she bent forward as Ducky and her siblings approached them, all of whom were panting and exhausted.  "Let's carry 'em so we can move more quickly and not wear 'em out."

"Good thinking, Anna.  Okay, kids, we're going to let you all catch a ride," Mrs. Swimmer said as she picked up several of the little swimmers.  Not surprising to Anna, Ducky wanted to be with her, so Anna let her and the rest of her siblings catch a ride with her.  Ducky found her place on Anna's shoulder, but her siblings were not as adventurous and decided to stay where they were.  Anna could tell Ducky's siblings were still somewhat uneasy around her.

"A'ight, kiddos.  Hang on," Anna said before she and Mrs. Swimmer contiued to walk.

Grandpa Longneck opened his eyes when he heard the call that Mr. Threehorn made.  he looked at Littlefoot.  "I trust it is something important." He said as he looked in the direction of where the call had come from.  He did his best to wake up Grandma Longneck then looked back to Littlefoot.  "Are you ready to go to the meeting?" He asked him.

---

Flapper heard the call, not sure what it was, though thinking it may sound like Mr. Threehorn.  He got up from where he was resting, looking for a decent place to sleep and decided to walk towards where the sound had come from.  He then thought it may look odd for a flyer to be walking so he climbed a tree, a tall one, and once he was on some branches high up he jumped off, thinking he could at least glide part of the way and try not to crash into a tree as he lost altitude.

"It looks like we're early," Mrs. Swimmer observed, having noticed her family and Anna were the first ones to arrive at the meeting place.

"Well, at least we'll get the best spots, right kiddos?" Anna replied before she gently bent dorward so Ducky's siblings could climb off her arms.  As soon as they felt ground again, the little swimmers all made a quick dash for their mother.

"Sheesh, I wonder what I've done to make 'em so nervous of me," Anna said to Ducky, who continued to remain where she was.

"They are just shy, yep yep yep.  Especially around strangers.  I think they are scared of you after hearing about how Mrs. Maia threw me from her nest but I am not sure, no no no," Ducky replied.

"I didn't think she was a stranger," Anna said in a confused tone.

"She is not, but she is not a family friend either.  I do not think she likes our kind, yep yep yep," Ducky said.

"I know what ya mean.  I hate it when someone tries to hurt a kid, and just thinkin' 'bout it makes me mad, but your siblings should realize I'm okay to be around since you're still safe and unharmed after hangin' 'round me all this time," Anna said.

"I think they will Anna, but you have to be patient with them, yep yep yep.  They will feel safe around you sooner or later, yes they will," Ducky replied.

"I hope so," Anna replied as Cera and Tricia came over and joined them.

Rob and Zaine arrived shortly after Anna's group. Rob had decided to change back into his human form, knowing that if there was trouble he would be of more use as a human. Luckily, he didn't lose his clothes while morphing back, which would have been quite embarrassing. "Ok, so we're kind of early," Rob pointed out.

"I wonder where Littlefoot and the others are?" Zaine asked. "They're probably just waking up now."

"I hope they get here soon. Something feels really wrong here." He then noticed Anna was with Ducky's family. "Hey Anna!" he called out

Littlefoot nodded."I'm ready, Grandpa." He stood up and followed his grandpa to the meeting place.

Grandpa Longneck walked to the meeting place, making sure to keep his pace where Littlefoot could easily keep up.

"I do hope it is nothing to bad.  But we'll find out once we are there." He said.

---

Flapper in trying to swerve to miss hitting a tree hit a bush instead.  Getting up he brushed off some twigs and leaves.  He took a leaf to eat and decided to walk the rest of the way, joining some others he saw walking in the same direction.

-----------

Mim did a slow jog, so she could go long distance and not be at all tired once she arrived at the meeting place.  Slowing down slightly when she got close.

------------

Petrie soon arrived at the meeting place circling around the area a bit.  Looking around to see if he could tell why the meeting had been called and to see if any of his friends were there already or his family before he landed.

(OOC: Just so everyone knows, the emergency meeting is not taking place at the Rock Circle, but at the location Mr. Threehorn, Petrie's mom, and Guido are currently at: a forest clearing.)

From her vantage point in the sky, Rebecca could see several valley dinosaurs converging on the clearing where Mr. Threehorn stood, continuing to call out. She returned to the ground.

“I think that did it,” she reported. “We should have enough for a rescue party once everyone gets here.”

“Good,” Mr. Threehorn said, glancing around the clearing. A small group of valley dinosaursóand a few newcomers, it looked likeóhad already assembled, many of them looking like they had just woken up.

“So what is it this time, Threehorn?" a sleepy-looking whistling swimmer asked as he rubbed his eyes.

“One of the newcomers has been captured by the two fast biters who work for Red Claw.”

“What?! Then what’d you wake us up for?” a spiketail shouted. “That means he’s dead, doesn’t it? What’s there for us to do for him?”

“I didn’t say they ate him,” Mr. Threehorn snapped. He nodded at Guido. “Guido tells me that he was still alive when the fast biters ran off with him. There may still be a chance to save him.”

“Since when do sharpteeth catch food and then not eat it?” an incredulous hollowhorn asked.

“It wouldn’t be the strangest thing that’s happened in the last few days,” Rebecca pointed out.

“Which newcomer was it, exactly?” the spiketail who had spoken before asked.

“Pan…jee-uh,” Mr. Threehorn said, stammering a little as he sounded out the difficult name, “the red glider.”

“The one who looks like me,” Guido added. “A–a–a–and it was up by the Great Wall, in case anyone wants to know. …Well, actually everyone should know, because if they don’t know, then they won’t know where to go to save himó”

“Don’t start that again,” Mr. Threehorn hissed.
