The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Okay, this is getting ridiculous... It's taken more than 8 MINUTES for this page to load. And my laptop is relatively fast, even very big images take less than 10 seconds to load. So please, from now on, I would highly suggest that all animated images be linked to rather than posted directly. I know, you want to show us something funny, but it's impossible for me to find any humor in something that forces me to wait for minutes on end before I can finally even see it.
I'm sorry but your internet is just terrible.  I'd look into that if I were you.  Loading this page takes me longer than normal, but still takes less than 15 seconds.  And before you go saying it's because I pay for outrageous speeds, I don't.  Anything better than 2Mbps up and 2Mbps down will load this page in about 15 seconds.  That's the rate at which GOF's servers can serve the information so it really doesn't matter if your internet is faster than that.  But if it took 8 minutes then you must be getting like dialup speeds.  And 10 seconds to load a "big" image (big is a relative term on a little laptop screen with a tiny resolution) is far too long.  I load most images in about 1/4 of a second.  "big images" (3000x3000 or larger that are about 4MB) takes me about 6 seconds.  Seeing as you're on a laptop, a "big" image could be 1000x1000 and only about 1/2MB.  1/2MB is 512KB.  Dialup is 56KB/second so that would make sense.  You need to have your internet speed checked out.  It's not normal unless you're paying for the cheapest DSL out there (which is usually UP TO 1Mbps (but is usually anywhere between 60Kbps and 200Kbps)) or you have actual dialup (which I highly doubt on a newer laptop).  The problem is with your setup.  No one else is having issues.

The issue is certainly not with the internet connection. In fact, I bet that page (specifically, that animated image I was complaining about) would load up just fine on my desktop. (Besides, it seems 8 minutes is actually on the extreme end, because the last two times, it took only 5 minutes.) Based on what little I could actually understand from your post, I'm pretty sure the issue is with my laptop. It's now over three years old, and I think it's beginning to show its age. I can't even play any videos for more than an hour without the thing just shutting itself off. (It wasn't always like this, its only in the last few months that I've had this problem.) Since I already have a desktop that works perfectly fine, I just use that for gaming and long-duration videos. Everything else still seems fine to me, so I see no reason to let go of my laptop anytime soon.

Anyway, sorry for getting off-topic. Just had to vent a little frustration I've had with a few of the recent images in this topic.

Very funny, and true.  There is a video some folks did, who does spoofs of cinemasins of this movie, and some do that for various MLP:FIM episodes.  I'd post the links but there are a handful of them on youtube.

The article in the link is a bit misleading. The review was posted on the same website that the Nostalgia Critic posts his stuff, but the review wasn't done by him, but a member on their online community.

I thought it was, maybe he did that since the movie falls outside the time frame of the era he has worked out for his character.

Well, that sure puts some perspective into the ages of some of those characters.

Here's my current stance on MLP:FiM.

Since November last year, I've been reading fanfics on fimfiction.net. Necessity made me become a member in February (the day after the season 3 finale) so I could use the "read later" feature and avoid having so many tabs open at all times. The number of fanfics on my read later list is now at over 500 (blame Civ V for not giving me enough time). In July, I started checking Equestria Daily on a regular basis. Yet, despite all of this, I still do not yet consider myself a true brony for one simple reason: I have not yet watched a single episode of this show.

Tomorrow, that is finally going to change.

Starting yesterday, Equestria Daily is doing a countdown of all 65 episodes in order of oldest to newest. Each page includes a YouTube video of it's particular episode. This opportunity means that not only I now don't have to search YouTube for each episode, but it will allow me to watch this series in order from first to latest, exactly the way I wanted to.

Tomorrow, (after I watch Bionicle: Mask of Light) I will watch the first two episodes: Friendship is Magic, parts 1 & 2. After everything I had already read on the MLP wiki months ago, the only things I'm still missing out on is the music and what their voices sound like. After that, I will keep up with Equstria Daily and watch one episode per day on their countdown. By this time tomorrow, I will finally be able to truly call myself a brony.

Congratulations, hope you have a lot of fun.  You can discuss how you feel of each episode on this thread if you want.  I'm sure the others would not mind.  I know I wouldn't.

At 4:30 this afternoon, I finally started watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I can definitely say that actually watching the show is quite different than just reading about it.

I knew the only parts I had still been missing out on was the audio (music and voices) and, as expected, there were surprises. After many many months of thinking about what the cast's voices are like, to finally hear what they are really like is... a little weird, I have to admit. Nothing bad at all, just... weird. :neutral  I think I'll watch these two episodes again tomorrow, along with the third episode, mostly to help establish within my mind what their voices are actually like, rather than what I once thought. On the plus side, at least most of them aren't as squeaky-high as I would have expected from a girl's show. :yes  The music was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting it to sound so... modern. (Among other things, I didn't think there would be an electric guitar in the orchestra, except maybe for some Rainbow Dash scenes. )

There's no need for me to talk about each episode. I've already known for months what happens in each and every one of them. I'm just watching the show to finally fill in the last remaining gaps I've missed out on before I can actually call myself a Brony.

Wow, I didn't realize how close we are to the fourth season. I psyched now. I look forward to the changes this will bring. With Twilight as a princess now and an alicorn now, this is going to be interesting, to say the least.
