Members Meeting the Characters

You know, Pangaea, your idea of Screech and Thud settling scores with the valley gave me an idea. What if my character does a one-on-one fight with whichever one bit him (I forget which one actually bit Rob). It doesn't have to be a war or anything grand like that, but say your character approaches the valley, Rob recognizes its the one who bit him, and the two have a fast biter brawl, just the two of them. It would give you and I more of a chance to RP with each other, and it could be interesting.

By the way, quick question. From what I'v seen here, since this is the LBT universe from here then OCs created by us are real in the RP, right?

That seems to be the case. The way others (namely GVG and LBTFan13) have handled it so far is that their OCs are part of the LBT world (with the other LBT characters interacting with them as if they always were) and have no knowledge of their creators, but the GOF members who created them know everything about them that they designed themselves. (Am I making sense?) However, since different people are playing different characters and don't know all about everyone else's OCs, it's probably best that you don't refer to events in fanfictions (for instance) in which your OCs interacted with the LBT characters.

Hmm…that might work. I think that event could also serve to improve your character's reputation in the eyes of the valley dinosaurs, since you'd be defending the valley against a known and genuine threat.

P.S. It was Thud (the green fast biter) that bit you.

I can't speak for Amy, but considering that she has yet to even wake up her characters in the RP (nothing wrong with that, mind you), I don't think you need to worry about it just yet.

Yeah, I just wanted to know ahead of time, so I'm not caught unawares!!

By the way, I've begun thinking of a possible subplot in which Screech and Thud start to question Red Claw's leadership due to his deteriorating sanity and increasingly risky attempts at revenge, perhaps eventually leaving him (though it needn't necessarily be permanent) to settle their scores with the valleyers on their own.  I was thinking that this would perhaps provide more “room” for Red Claw to interact with the Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus characters. (I'm thinking that the presence of two much larger and more dangerous sharpteeth might even be part of the reason Thud and Screech decide to leave.)

That's an awesome idea!! A difficult choice for the two raptors to make: a great risk is taken even questioning Red Claw, but following him mindlessly might still get them killed. A great dilema to put them in!! Absolutely genius!! And you're right; the presence of two huge sharpteeth might add a bit of urgency to their leaving, plus they'll no doubt be (and possibly feel) a bit useless if Red Claw had allies more powerful than two Fast Biters. I'm feeling sorry for Screech and Thud now...

Is the plan still to introduce the Giganotosaurus when the group of characters visit the Big Water, and have it follow them back to the valley?

As far as I know.....Yup, yup, yup!! It's an awesome idea and still beats the 'having-him-pop-out-of-nowhere' idea!!

Is Redtooth101 or FlipperBoidSkua playing the Spinosaurus?

Well it was FBS's idea so I'm just waiting for the okay that I have permission to play the Spinosaurus.

I'm quite willing to let Redtooth101 play the Spino!! He seems as enthusiastic at playing the Spino as I am to be playing the Giganoto!!  

Do the Giganotosaurus and Spinosaurus have names yet?

I'll let Redtooth101 think of a name for the Spino since he now has my permission to play the lovable sail-backed carnie!!

Giganotosaurus-wise............ I got nothing.... I'm trying to keep to the LBT tradition of naming him for his species, but can't think of a good non-comical-sounding one from Giganotosaurus ("Plated Sharptooth" doesn't give much to work with, and I even looked up the scientific name to see if that'll give me ideas, to no avail....). Maybe a physical feature, but with him being the only Giganoto we see, I dunno if he has any difference in appearance..... Gah!!  :unsure: But no worries, something will come to me eventually!!

Also.........A Fast Biter vs Fast Biter fight sounds soooooooooo cool!! When it happens, I'll be reading intently with a bowl of popcorn!!

Um…I have a slightly absurd suggestion for the Giganotosaurus's name: Carl (from Giganotosaurus carolinii). Yeah, it doesn’t exactly convey the image of one of Earth’s largest terrestrial predators of all time, but hey, you had a super-sized theropod with an anticlimactically unintimidating name in the third Ice Age movie. And perhaps there could be a humorous aspect to his character; that he’s embarrassed by his own name. (Speaking of the Giganotosaurus’s character, check out this question I left for for you.)

If you don’t care for that name, here are some other ideas (including some alternatives to basing it off his species name):

ï Giga, Gigan, Gigano, Giganto, Gant, or Ganto, all permutations of the first part of Giganotosaurus’s name. (Some of these I suggested before.)

ï Anton or Antonio (Giganotosaurus), which have the bonus of being rather commonly used names in Argentina, where Giganotosaurus was discovered.

ï Carco, from Carcharodontosauridae, the family Giganotosaurus belongs to.

ï Coria, after Rodolfo Coria, one of the paleontologists who first described and named Giganotosaurus.

ï Calvo, after Jorge Calvo, another Argentine paleontologist who studied Giganotosaurus.

You can also drop the i and the g from the first part of the species name to get Gan.  Should be enough name ideas Pangea gave you to pick from hopefully.

My personal opinion is that “Gan” is a bit too short; for some reason I think of the Giganotosaurus as having a two-or-three syllable name. (Thanks for contributing, though, Kor! ) I'm also realizing that maybe I don't like “Anton” as much as I thought; I feel like a name beginning with a hard “G” sound somehow suits him more. (By the way, I pronounce “Giganotosaurus” with a “J” sound at the beginning instead of a hard “G”, so it occurs to me that many of the names I suggested could be pronounced differently from how I imagined them. :unsure:) Of course it's your decision, FBS.

Interesting points and I'm definitely taking them into consideration. And yeah, I'm not too sure which pronounciation the "G" is supposed to have: I hear some shows use it with a "J" sound and others with the actual "G" sound.

It wouldn't hugely affect our plans if he's decided not to join after all, but it would sure be useful to know in case he does want to interact with the characters who visit the Big Water (which is where FBS and I were thinking Gigano would be introduced).

As far as the OC thing, well sure, otherwise Pangaea's character wouldn't be alive in the rp. MOST OCs are welcome in the rp, but they have to be some prehistoric character in some shape or form.

And as far as Blitz goes, I haven't heard of him either. I just sent him that one pm to vote and post and I just left it up to him to respond or not. I do PREFER though that he could at say something (AND this goes for anyone else that is playing in this rp or rather any rps I create) and let me know either way if he's playing or not. It's better to say no and lose interest of the rp then to leave the gm hanging I say. I'm not a mind reader.

Just a request, I remembered someone saying that some characters are able to go from human form to dinosaur form. So could my character also transform but rather than human to dinosaur I was thinking Cearadactylus to Spinosaurus but still a 'teen-aged' one?

Your dinosona is yourself in a dinosaur form, whatever species you decide it to be. If you believe your dinosona changing to another species will be part of a crucial plot point, type it here in this discussion.

I think he's asking whether, instead of his character having a human form and a dinosaur form, he can have two different dinosaur forms that he can alternate between.
